Summer Concession Stand Work Schedule
All parents who have a child participating in T-ball, little league, softball, or legion ball are asked to work one night during the summer at the concession stand. This enables the softball and little league programs to charge a lower registration fee than many towns, who may charge as much as $100 for each child to play ball. We feel that a couple volunteer hours is a good trade off for the cost involved. The money generated from the concession stands is used entirely on the ball fields. In the past the Ball Association used the money to purchased bleachers, covers for the bleachers, batting cages, dugout covers, etc. The city owns and maintains the ball fields, They are responsible for mowing, fixing bathrooms, repairing fences, etc, but does not supply any of the equipment, field chalk, etc, or maintain the batting cages. Current projects include bleachers for the North field. The bleachers used currently on the North field are owned by the school, and are moved back to the football field each fall. This is the reason the North bleachers do not have a canopy like what was purchased for the other bleachers. The canopies for the other bleachers cost about $9,000 this year. New bleachers may cost as much as $20,000, so there is a significant cost involved in purchasing equipment for our fields.
The Summer Ball Association spends many many hours trying to make sure that parents are not scheduled on a night that their child (or children) plays ball. If someone is not listed on the original schedule, they might be called to help with one of the many tournaments scheduled each summer. If someone is not able to work on their assigned night, they are asked to please find a substitute or switch with someone - a list of alternatives is provided with the schedule. If someone doesn't show up, the people scheduled to work will be short handed.
We thank you for your past assistance with the concession stand, and thank you in advance for your support each summer!
