ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF 2008

* WABL Boys Little League (12U) CHAMPIONS * WABL Boys Minor League (10U) CHAMPIONS * Girls 12U fast pitch CHAMPIONS , undefeated 16-0 record
* WABL Boys Little League (12U) and Minor League (10U) Championship games represented by all Oakdale teams * 3 CHAMPIONSHIPS were most of any township in CVC and WABL
* Girls 8U regular season 1ST PLACE with undefeated 14-0 regular season record, #1 seed of playoffs with least runs against of 45
* Girls 12U fast pitch regular season 1ST PLACE with undefeated 14-0 regular season record, #1 seed of playoffs
* Girls softball won the MOST REGULAR SEASON TROPHIES (7) out on any organization in the CVC including 2 1st place, 2 2nd place, 3 3rd place
* Girls won regular season trophies at every age group except 15U Fast Pitch including 8U (2), 10U, 12U, 15U, 18U, and 12U Fast Pitch
* Boys Minor League 10U 1ST PLACE regular season
* Girls softball had MOST REGULAR SEASON TOTAL WINS of any township with 85 wins
* Overall township record from CVC Girls slow pitch & fast pitch softball and WABL Boys baseball had MOST REGULAR SEASON WINS OF ANY TOWNSHIP with 144 wins
* Girls 10U tournament team 3RD PLACE trophies in the Burgettstown tournament
* Girls 8U tournament team 3RD PLACE trophies in the Findlay tournament and 3RD PLACE at Collier tournament
* Overall record including girls slow pitch, fast pitch, and boys was 170-103 for a .623 winning percentage ranked 4th out of 15 townships * Girls slow pitch record of 85-52 for a winning percentage of .620 winning percentage ranked 5th out of 15 townships in CVC slow pitch
* Girls fast pitch record of 20-7 for a winning percentage of .741 winning percentage ranked 3rd out of 10 townships in CVC fast pitch
* Boys record of 39-27 for a winning percentage of .591 winning percentage ranked 1st out of 3 townships in the WABL

Perfect Season: Oakdale Wahl 12U Fast Pitch CHAMPIONS

July 1, 2008
Oakdale Wahl was crowned as the CVC 12U fast pitch champions after winning an exciting extra inning game 6-5 over Collier. The game lasted 9 innings, with Adelle Collins pitching all 9 innings for the win. In the bottom of the 9th, Nadiya Wahl led off with a walk, advance to second on a fielders choice hit by Breanna Palmer. Adelle Collins singled to center scoring Nadiya Wahl to win the Game 6-5. Oakdale Wahl completed the perfect season at 16-0.

Boys 12U Championship Game (Epic Battle of Oakdale Teams)

Congratulations to the Oakdale Orsini and Oakdale Claus 12U boys for making the championship a game for the ages. The game required 9 innings, 3 extra innings, before Oakdale Orsini scored two runs in the bottom of the 9th to win the 12U championship 5-4, after Oakdale Claus scored in the top of the inning to take the lead.

Boy's 10U Championship Game (Epic Battle of Oakdale Teams Part 2)

June 23, 2008 – 06:00 PM
Congratulations to Oakdale Lauderbuagh 10U boys team on winning the minor league championship in a fantastic finish. Congratulations to Oakdale Claus and Lauderbaugh for making the 10U championship an epic classic battle of two Oakdale teams. After finishing the season in 5th place at 6-7, Lauderbaugh's team made the championship game against the league's 1st place team, Oakdale Claus. The championship game on Sunday ended in an incredible 9-9 score after the game was called in extra innings due to darkness and weather. Oakdale Claus was trailing 9-6 in the bottom of the final inning, bases loaded, two outs. The batter hit a triple scoring three runs and was thrown out at home on what would have been the championship winning grand slam, which forced extra innings. The entire championship game was replayed Monday with Oakdale Lauderbaugh prevailing to become champions 15-7.

Scott Patterson of Oakdale Makes NY Yankees Debut

June 3, 2008
Pitcher Scott Paterson of Oakdale was called up to the NY Yankees June 2, 2008 and had his major league debut at the age of 29 years old. Before the 2008 season ended he was traded to San Diego Padres where he pitched in 4 relief appearances registering an ERA under 2.00.

Oakdale Youth League Annual Picnic

August 24, 2008 – 12:00 AM
The Oakdale Youth League annual picnic is scheduled for August 24th at Oakdale Boro Park starting at noon. Please bring a side dish or dessert. The main course and beverages will be provided by the OYL. CVC regular season trophies will be distributed at the picnic. We will have a Chinese auction with a variety of items to auction.

Manager's Softball Tournament

August 10, 2008 – 01:00 PM
The Oakdale Youth League hosted it's inaugural Manager's softball tournament with teams representing Oakdale Girls Managers, Oakdale Boys Managers, and Findlay Managers. The event was an appreciation for all the Manager's who donated their time over the yearwith the OYL providing food from the grill and beverages to all who played or attended. Findlay Managers went 2-0, Oakdale Boys Managers 1-1, and Oakdale Girls Managers 0-2. A good time was had by all so expect to see future events such as this.

A New Sheriff in Town!!!

The 2008 season begins with many changes to the Oakdale Youth League Board. The new sheriff in town is our new President, Al Pifer, who has served on the board for many years in a variety of positions. Eric Fowler (Vice President), Mike Claus (Boys Rep), Rick Bernardo (Girls Rep) all returned in different board positions from the previous season. Greta Rutkauskas (Concessions) gets to concentrate on one position this year instead of two. Newcomers Joe Bolton (Secretary/Website Designer), Mike Kiss (Treasurer), Rick Blumling (Equipment Manager), and Diana Blumling (Fundraising) round out the board.

Let There be Light (at Oakdale Boro Park)!!!

A major project during the offseason was to fix the lights at Oakdale Boro Park. The days of the outfielders disappearing in the dark are over. This was not as easy as just getting a couple new bulbs and screwing them in though. The lights are about 30 years old and required special bulbs and also the lights are up so high that it took special equipment to reach the lights to change and fix them. Oakdale Boro split the cost with the league which ended up at about $2,600 total.

Huck Field Updates

Huck field was very busy during the offseason. We had multiple breaking and entering at the concession stand during the offseason. We also have become victimized by theives stealing our metal bleachers and benches and likely selling them as scrap. The bleachers and benches will be replaced at a cost to our community. On a positive note, there are plans in place to fix up the batting cage before the season starts.
