2008 Growler Baseball

The Growlers winning streaked at 3 games as they were downed by the Mariners 10-3 Jake Michels and Matt Meddaugh had two hits apeice for the growlers.

Transactions:
The Growlers place OF Darian Rivera on the 15 day disabled list with a separated shoulder.
The Growlers signed Free agent OF Keith Vaughn to a one year contract

The Countdown Begins it all started back in Hyde Park, NY 47 years ago. Justin Contursi was born and 4 years later he picked up a bat and the rest is history. Here we are 47 years later and Justin is about to make history. He is 3 RBI away from 200 career RBI achieving this feet will surely put the finishing touches on a stellar career and open the door for Justin to be finally be recognized by Joe Brenner as the future Hall of Famer he really is.

Contursi ends 13 year Homerun drought as Growlers defeat Cubs
Justin Contursi led the Growlers past the Cubs. He was 3-4 at the plate with a single, double, Homerun his first in 13 years and 3 rbi's inching himself closer to career RBI number 200. Jake Michels and Darren Shepley combined on the hill to shut down the cubs scattering 4 hits

Growlers outpitch Royals
The Growlers rebounded from a shutout loss to the Warriors by downing the 5-1 Royals 5 to 1. Mike Devens was stellar on the mound for the Growlers he pitched a complete game striking out 12 while allowing only an unearned run to cross the plate. Justin Contursi was the hitting star for the Growlers he ended a 12 inning Growler scoring draught by driving in Mark Milroy with an Rbi single in the 4th inning Contursi would go 2-4 with 2 RBI on the day. The Growler hope to have this momentum carry them into this weekend as they face the Cubs on Fathers Day.

Bears Growl Louder
The Growlers didn't put up much of a fight as the visiting Bears ate them alive. Starting pitcher Alex Forster was not himslef this week as he gave a up a season high 15 hits and 13 runs. the offense was very quiet as well with the exception of Eric Rassin(3-4 2b 2r Rbi),Dan Milroy(2-4 2 2b 1r)and Darian Rivera(2-4 1rbi) The Growler hope to rebound this week against the Warriors

Growlers Slay Knights
It only took six innings for the Growlers to Slay the Knights 13-0. Matt Meddaugh and Darian Rivera led a potent Growler offense that pounded out 14 hits. Rivera the teams lead off hitter was 3-3 with two doubles two runs scored and two rbi. Meddaugh the teams third baseman was also 3-3 with three singles two runs scored and two rbi. Starting pitcher Alex forster was overpowering again pitching a complete game shutout while striking out 10 in only six innings. . . .

Growlers Devour Blue Jays
The Growler Bats came alive on sunday in a much need 14-3 victory. The Growler offense was led by CF Mark Milroy who went 3-4 scored 2 runs and knocked in 2 and in a supporting role Eric Rassin(2-3 2rbi),Justin Contursi(2-4 2rbi),Mike Devins(2-4 3rbi)and Mike curtis(2-4) were a combined 8-15 with 7 rbi. The Growler offense pounded out 15 hits in the game. On the mound Alex Forster was as dominating as ever pitching a complete game scattering 4 hits and striking out 10.

Hitmen hunt down Growlers
The Growlers were shut down again Sunday for there second consecutive game losing 16-4 to the Florida Hitmen. The only bright spots on the day were Dan Milroy who again led the offense with two hits and an rbi and Mark Milroy had a double and 2 rbi... the Growlers hope to rebound from this loss sunday at 1pm at Geering against the Blur Jays

Strong pitching wasn't enough as the Growlers fell to the Black Sox 3-1 in 11 innings. Jake Michels pitched 7 strong innings striking out 8 and Mike Devens followed with four good innings of his own. But the Growler bats were silenced by Black Sox starter Mike Powell who went 8 1/3 striking out 13 and allowing only 2 hits. The Growler offense only managed 3 hits by Joe Nikci(1-2, 1b), Mark Milroy(1-3 1b,r,sb)and Dan Milroy,(1-3 1b,rbi. The Growler players of the game were Starting pitcher Jake Michels who pitched 7 innings of 4 hit ball and struck out 8 and Dan Milroy, who drove in the tying run in the bottom of the ninth inning to send the game to extra innings.

New Look Growlers Disarm Arsenal
The new look Growlers opened their 2008 season in good fashion by disarming the Arsenal on 4/13/08 at Dutchess stadium...the Growlers were led by their ace starting pitcher Alex Forster, who pithced a complete game striking out 13 while scattering 10 hits. The Growlers offense was led by the hitting attack new Growler Eric Rassin and veteran Growler Justin Contursi,the two combined for 5 hits and drove in a total of 5 runs combined. The Growlers also capitalized on six Arsenal errors to score 6 runs and downed a league rival Arsenal team led former Growler Shane Mitchell 6-4.
