2025 Playday (Girls) & Thunderbolt (Boys) Tournaments - Team Registrations Now Open!!

Lightning Lacrosse is thrilled to announce the 2025 dates for the Playday (girls) and Thunderbolt (boys) youth lacrosse tournaments in West Windsor Community Park! Playday (girl's tournament) and Thunderbolt (boy's tournament) bring together nearly 100 teams for some of the best recreational youth lacrosse in New Jersey! Tournament t-shirts will be available for purchase. Food, apparel, and lacrosse vendors will be on-site on tournament days.

Both tournaments will host "A" and "B" level pools at the 3/4, 5/6 & 7/8 levels to help ensure competitive play. Every team will play four games. For Thunderbolt (boys) tournament, medals awarded to the top three finishing teams in each division in both tournaments. For Playday (girls) tournament, no medals will be awarded (i.e., playday style tournament). All participating players and coaches must be registered with USA Lacrosse. Registration is strictly on a first come, first serve basis. Registration not complete until payment has been made.

Additional tournament/game format details are as follows:

Dates/times: Playday - Saturday, May 3, 2025 / Thunderbolt - Sunday, May 4, 2025 (no rain dates)

Game details: All 3/4, 5/6, & 7/8 teams will play four games. 

Price: $650 per team (plus processing fees) / $600 per team (plus processing fees) for teams that register before Saturday, February 1, 2025. Payment must be made by card payment through TourneyMachine using the links below.

Game length: Two 20-minute halves with two minute half time (master horn determines the start and stop of game play).

Clock format: Strictly running time (clock does not stop for timeouts, injuries, etc).

Field size: 5/6 and 7/8 games on regulation size lacrosse fields (3/4 games on smaller size fields).

Team strength: 3/4 games will play 7v7 format with goalie (5/6 and 7/8 games will play 10 players).

Timeouts: One one-minute timeout per team per half (no timeouts in the final two minutes of each game).

Tie breaking: For purposes of determining medal winners, in the event two teams have the same winning percentage, the team with the head-to-head win (if applicable) will be the higher ranked. The third tie breaker is most goals scored. The final tie breaker will be a coin toss.

Tied scores: Games can end in a tie.

Schedule, scores, and standings: Lightning will use TourneyMachine to post schedules, scores, and standings. 

New for 2025: For Thunderbolt (boys) tournament, all teams will play four games in pool play (i.e., there will be no second round games based on seeding). For Thunderbolt (boys) tournament, medals will be awarded to the top three finishing teams in each division based on the outcome of the four pool play games. For Playday (girls) tournament, same as 2024, all teams will play four games in pool play, but no medals will be awarded (i.e., playday style tournament).

Lightning Lacrosse is designated as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization with the IRS. As such, Lightning's tax information is a matter of public record. In accordance with tax requirements, Lightning Lacrosse recently filed its 2022 IRS Form 990. Please contact ken.topolewski@gmail.com if you would like to obtain a copy of Lightning's most recent 990 filing, or any of the other tax documents (e.g., IRS Form 1023, IRS determination letter) applicable to the club.
