Head Coach Dennis Steele
Coach Steele graduated from Culver-Stockton College in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. His first job out of college was at Morris High School in Illinois. Coach Steele was an assistant football coach at Morris High School, acting as defensive coordinator, for Illinois coaching legend Dan Darlington. In his 32 years the Redskins were conference champions 22 times and were State Title Runner Ups 5 times while winning the Illinois Sate Championship 2 times. Coach Steele, as he is in Norphlet, served in other roles at Morris High School. Coach Steele was Morris’ Head Baseball Coach from 1984 until 1998. Coach Steele’s 1995 squad claimed the IHSA Class 2A State Title. His 1993 team finished second in the State Title hunt. Coach Steele took over the head softball spot at Morris in 1999, spending six years at the helm. Coach Steele’s first team went 37-2 in 1998. Coach Steele also spent time in the track and boy’s basketball programs at Morris, along with being a weight training instructor. Because of his success leading young men and women Coach Steele was inducted into the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
