ORGANIZATION
OYHA is an independent non-profit oganization created
solely for the purpose to promote youth hockey in the Ozaukee country region. OYHA purchases ice time from Ozaukee Ice Association (OIA) but operates independently from OIA. OYHA is governed by the Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association (WAHA) and USA Hockey. We are classified as a Division 1 level Club playing in WAHA Region 5. All OYHA Club Teams are entered in regional playoffs to qualify for WAHA State Tournaments held in March. For information on WAHA divisions and regions click here.
PHILOSOPHY and HISTORY
Our philosophy is simple. The kids come first. Hockey is a great sport. It will be used to promote teamwork, character, integrity, the value of hard work, honesty, excellence and fun.
Established in 1996, OYHA had a successful first year with 240 youth hockey players participating in our program. Two teams qualified for State Tournaments and our Mite Team won the WAHA "AA" State Championship! All players learned the game, developed their skills and had fun.
OYHA BOARD of DIRECTORS
OYHA board of directors conduct a general meeting on the first Tuesday of every month. For a list of board members, click here.
CODE of CONDUCT
Unfortunately, incidents of bad language, abusing officials, bad-mouthing coaches, and general bad sportsmanship or rude behavior still find their way with a few Ice Dogs. One vocal parent, one poor sport player, or one loud mouth coach reflect on the entire organization and the sport of hockey. OYHA has adopted a Zero Tolerance policy which is posted in the Ozaukee Ice Center lobby. We ask that parents, coaches, and players and ask everyone to be diligent and continue to make OYHA a first class organization.
GEOGRAPHIC BOUNDRYS
OYHA membership draws from within the governing borders of Ozaukee County. Existing OYHA members (as of 1996) who lived outside of Ozaukee County were grandfathered if they chose to do so. USM students who live within Ozaukee County may become members of Milwaukee Winter Club.
