Cheer FAQs

When does practice start?
**Practice starts Aug. 1 from 5:30-8:00 p.m.
How often is practice?
**Depending on what level your child is on he/she may practice as often as 5 nights a week until Labor Day from 5:30-8:00 p.m. Then after Labor Day, only 3 days a week, which are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays from 5:30-8:00 p.m.
What should my child wear to practice?
**Your child should wear shorts with no pockets, zippers or strings, a t-shirt, socks, and sneakers. Hair should be pulled back and in a high ponytail. Nothing on the face. Use plenty of hairspray to keep hair down.
What should my child bring to practice?
**Your child should always have a bag with sunscreen, bugspray, rain poncho, hairbrush, extra hair ties, a towel, a nutritious snack, and a water bottle.
Do I need to purchase uniforms, etc?
**No, your registration fees cover--a cheer set top and shorts, competition shoes and socks, a personalized cheer bag, a hair bow, and bloomers. Any and all monies(registration fees) need to be paid prior to your child receiving these items.
What about the uniform?
**Your cheerleader will be fitted for his/her uniform -dates and time TBD. He/she will not receive the uniform until the week of the first game. You will receive directions on the care of the uniform once you receive it. Our uniforms are very expensive and you will be responsible for any damage. Uniforms are turned in at the end of the season.
When are the games?
**Game day is every Saturday beginning ________. The time of your game is dependent on what level your child is cheering for. We are a traveling team, some fields are 1 1/2-2 hours away. Just like our field, there is a fee of $5.00 for adults and $1.00 for children to get in to the games.
Does my child need a physical?
**Yes, the physical must have been done in 2012 and be on the Pop Warner Physical form. It must be the original--NO COPIES. This must be turned in prior to August 1st or your child can not start practicing.
What about competition?
**The competition is a very big part of our cheer season. For the competition teams their season could last from Aug 1- Dec 10. By mid-Sept. the cheerleaders are starting to work on their competition routines, it is very important that all cheerleaders are present for every practice. All competitions are mandatory.
What are the competition dates?
** October ---Peace River Conference Competition
November (Thanksgiving Weekend) ---Regional Competition in Orlando (if team qualifies)
December (1st week)----National Competition in Orlando (if team qualifies)
There may be additional monies needed as your child advances on to the Regional and National levels.
Is there anything I can do to get him/her ready for this season?
**Yes, it is very hot as you know in Florida, it is imperative that your child stay hydrated. It is recommended that he/she drinks plenty of water before practice. There are also some exercises that you could start at home before August 1st. Push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, and squats are recommended.
******Cheerleading is a big commitment. Please make sure that you and your child are willing to commit your time and effort into the season. Let's Go Venice!!!!!!!!!!!
