WYB provides youth baseball for two different divisions of league play. One is considered a recreation league and the other provides more competitive play. The Divisions are described below:
Recreation League Ages (5-18)
Our recreation program is affiliated with the Nations-Baseball organization. This division offers league play which consist of approximately 12 regular season games and a tournament that all teams are eligible to attend. In all divisions of our Recreation League the entire lineup bats and no player should sit out more than one consecutive inning.
Players are drafted to teams based on an annual evaluation of all players. Player have the choice of returning to the same team or can be placed back in the draft each year. They can only return to the same team on their second year in a division. Players moving up to the next age division are automatically placed in the draft.
Classic League Ages (7-14)
Waxahachie has local teams playing USSSA baseball in Southwest Classic Baseball (SWCB) League. SWCB is a select league made up of teams from Cedar Hill, Desoto, Duncanville, Grand Prairie, Irving, Lancaster, Mansfield, Midlothian, Ovilla, Red Oak, and Waxahachie. For 2009, Waxahachie does not host SWCB games. Waxahachie will have a local classic league playing Nations Baseball for the 11U and 13U ages in 2009. A Classic team or "select" team may have tryouts for roster spots and play a more competitive game. In addition there is no guaranteed playing time for these players.
