Q. Why is the spring registration more expensive compared to other Little Leagues in our area?
A. Many Little Leagues within the state of NJ are subsidized by their townships/cities; Marlboro Little League is not subsidized by Marlboro Township. Marlboro Little League is a self-sustaining program and owns the property where the fields are located. Other Little Leagues within NJ use fields owned, provided and maintained by their townships/cities eliminating the overhead to run a self-sustaining program.

Q. What are some of the expenses incurred by Marlboro Little League in order to operate?
A. There are numerous expenses incurred to run the Marlboro Little League baseball and softball programs. In order for Marlboro Little League to operate, an annual charter must be purchased from Little League International for each offered program. In addition, there are other expenses that also need to be paid; insurance, mortgage on the property, field maintenance (including supplies and hired services), utilities (water and electric), facility maintenance, umpire fees, baseballs, softballs and

uniforms just to name a few.

Q. Why can’t I bring my pet to the Marlboro Little League facility?
A. Pets are strictly prohibited from the Marlboro Little League property because their presence presents an insurance concern. The most docile and complacent pet can quickly become agitated and nervous especially in a place where there is so much going on around them. Children playing on and off the fields, children screaming and laughing and adults cheering at the top of their lungs can be quite stressful for an animal. Our goal is to provide a safe environment for all of our visitors and pets of any kind, unfortunately, pose a possible risk of injury that we can prevent. Anyone found with a pet on the Marlboro Little League property, including parking lots, will be asked to leave the facility. If that person refuses, Marlboro Little League reserves the right to contact the local police to have the pet removed.

Q. Why can’t I enjoy a cigarette, cigar or pipe while watching my child play?

A.Smoking is strictly prohibited while visiting the Marlboro Little League facility (this includes parking lots). Our goal is to provide a safe and clean environment for all to enjoy. Being the majority of our visitors are non-smokers (children), we ask that all adults respect our policy and refrain from smoking while visiting the Marlboro Little League property. You may think there is nothing wrong with smoking a cigarette, cigar, or pipe while watching a game but understand that there are hundreds of children utilizing the facility and there are parents who don’t want their children exposed to such a dangerous habit. We also don’t enjoy picking up your discarded cigarette and cigar butts. Any person found smoking on the Marlboro Little League property will be asked to extinguish and properly discard the tobacco item. If that person refuses, he/she will be asked to leave the facility. Marlboro Little League reserves the right to contact the local police to have any person removed who does not adhere to our No Smoking policy. Repeat offenders are subject to suspension of play for their children.

Q. Why can’t I enjoy a nice, cold beer while watching my child play?

A. Alcoholic beverages of any kind are strictly prohibited from the Marlboro Little League property including parking lots. Alcohol introduces a safety risk to an otherwise safe environment. Not everyone can “handle” their alcohol and can become unruly imposing a threat to those around them. Those drinking alcohol during their visit can also become a safety threat when operating their vehicle while leaving the facility. Being the majority of our visitors (children) don’t drink alcoholic beverages, we ask that adults respect our policy and refrain from bringing and drinking alcoholic beverages while visiting the Marlboro Little League property. Any person found in violation of this policy will be asked to leave the Marlboro Little League property immediately. Marlboro Little League reserves the right to contact the local police to have any person removed who does not adhere to our No Alcohol policy. Repeat offenders are subject to suspension of play for their children.

Q. What should I do if I notice someone breaking one of the “No Policies” (No Pets, No Smoking, No Alcohol)?

A. The most important thing is to not ignore the infraction. If you witness someone breaking one of the facility’s “No Policies”, simply seek out one of our League’s officials and provide him/her with the details. The League Official will promptly handle the situation.

Q. Why aren’t there paved paths for bike riding, roller skating, rollerblading, skateboarding, rip boarding or scooter riding?

A. The Marlboro Little League facility is a baseball and softball facility, not a skate park. We implore parents to leave these items at home during their visit to Marlboro Little League. The Marlboro Little League property is not designed to allow for this type of recreation and therefore is not a safe place for children to ride. Please leave bikes, roller skates, rollerblades, skateboards, rip sticks, and scooters at home.

Q. Are there any certifications required to coach a team?

A. All team managers and coaches are required to obtain a Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. certificate before being considered as a manager or coach. All volunteers that work directly with the children of the Marlboro Little League baseball and softball programs are required to undergo a background check for criminal history.

Q. I don’t have a lot of free time but would like to be involved. What can I do to help other than manage or coach?

A. We’re ALWAYS looking for volunteers and understand that not everyone can manipulate their schedules to volunteer a lot of time to the Marlboro Little League. We can always use volunteers to assist with working the concession stands (including the store), assist with field maintenance, and assist with keeping the facility clean. Some of these activities can be done while you’re at the facility watching your child play!!

Q. How do I volunteer to help Marlboro Little League?

A. If you want to volunteer to help MLL in any way, simply visit the “Contact MLL” page of our web site and send an email to any one of the volunteers listed on that page. Email addresses are provided to the right of each volunteer’s name.
