About the Executive Director

"We can't always build a future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future."

(Steve Birdine)

Bill Hébert, Jr., is Founder, Executive Director, and CFO with the Wisconsin Streak Select Youth Organization. He is also a head basketball coach and the program coordinator for youth basketball--a component of the organization. He has worked over the years, trying to put together an organization that is unique with its program offerings. A lifelong educator and mentor, Bill is excited about this opportunity and all that it brings.

The Leadership Academy provides youth with an opportunity to not only have mentorship, but supplemental academic activities and programs to grow and stimulate them. As a former high school and collegiate athlete, Bill has always understood the value of these things. The Streak Brand strives to provide a journey that is exciting, unknown, but ultimately rewarding from an academic and athletic standpoint. This philosophy serves as the driving force behind the 'Streak' mission and vision.

The Wisconsin Streak Select Youth Organization was developed to: stress the importance of academics, community service, and leadership development, while providing a sports outlet with opportunities to travel and have legitimate opportunities to shine in front of college coaches by playing TRUE AAU basketball (we are a Member club of the Wisconsin AAU). We have had success with helping develop student-athletes that have gone on to play college basketball at every level, and even more success mentoring many of our youth that have matriculated to higher education in pursuant of lofty academic achievements. We are proud of them.

Our basketball component is about player development and exposure, and this is one major part of the foundation and philosophy of the Wisconsin Streak Select Youth Organization. Bill, or 'Coach Heebs' as he is known, is an NCAA and AAU GOLD certified coach (through the Positive Coaches Alliance of the NBA and AAU). He has been involved with AAU for 20 years.  This component is also about developing the academic skills of the players. The organization also thrives on preparing youth for the discipline expected at the next level of athletic competition, and to stress having the faith to help earn the rewards that come from hard work, respect, and a desire to learn. Coach Heebs is firmly committed to working very hard at strengthening this Streak philosophy. He played football and baseball collegiately. He was also member of the Dallas Cowboys practice team in 1992, until injuries took their toll. Coach Heebs' family is from Lousiana and he hails from the great city of Chicago, where he lettered in basketball, football, baseball and track. He was worked out for the Chicago Cubs as a high school player.

Coach Heebs has participated and assisted at several Division 1, 2, and 3 College basketball camps including: Michigan State, Memphis, Minnesota, Wisconsin, West Virginia and others. He continues to attend numerous basketball clinics presented by some of America’s finest Division 1 college basketball coaching minds (and he has maintained these relationships), and he continues to conduct 1-on-1 training with many middle and high school players in the Madison area. He has also worked out both, an Illinois and Wisconsin Mr. Basketball, as well as trained and worked with current and past Division-1, 2 and 3 College student-athletes, and several past and current NBA and overseas players.

Coach Heebs considers himself a student of the game, but more importantly, a teacher. Not just of basketball but of life skills. He has also coached High School basketball at Madison West for 6 years. At West, Coach Heebs served as a coach for every level, and also Head Varsity and JV summer coach for the Edgewood College league. Prior to this, he coached AAU with the Wisconsin Force and was Program Director for the Player Development Academy for two years.

Coach Heebs enjoys mentoring young student-athletes who desire to ‘grow’ their basketball game and their academic skills, who strive to become better persons, and who are willing to put in hard work to get better in ALL phases--academics serving as the priority. He is a privileged member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC)--an Association of the nation's COLLEGE basketball coaches, and the Wisconsin Association of Basketball Coaches (WABC) comprised of the Wisconsin High School coaching fraternity.

Coach Heebs has started youth basketball programs at two area middle schools, has coached a team for Madison School and Community Recreation, teaches basketball skills classes at the YMCA, and  developed and coached the first basketball club team for the Dane County Boys and Girls Club of West Madison. He also has a 9-2 record coaching the High School All-Star team at the National Summer Classic in Chicago the past eleven years, by which he coached--among others--current NBA players Diamond Stone, Jabari Parker, and Jalil Okafor. Coach Heebs is always learning and growing, and is intent of being the best TEACHER on the court, while role modeling positive behavior to area youth and forming relationships with their parents.

The Wisconsin Streak Select Youth Organization is dedicated to helping provide an outlet on many levels to area youth…a longtime dream being fulfilled by Bill Hebert, Jr. Also, the basketball umbrella--Wisconsin Streak Select and TBC Streak Select continue to strive to make a difference within youth sports. It is Bill's belief, that this will be a tremendous opportunity for area youth who have the desire to excel academically, and the skill, ability, desire, attitude, and personality to excel as true student-athletes while competing in the highest level of youth basketball nationally. "This is something we work hard at overall, already realizing that the Wisconsin Streak Select Youth Organization is Bigger than Basketball."

Ultimately empowering and engaging youth, challenging them to give back to the community, having academic preparation for future learning, and partnering with community friends and organizations are the overall pillars of the Wisconsin Streak Select Youth Organization. There is exciting generated by the feedback received from parents, the academic growth experienced, and the comments of those who are impacted by what we provide on every level. "Hopefully, our leadership across the brand will continue to be a positive example for other organizations to follow." The proof is in the progress--STREAK!
