Witasick & W Buerhaus Lead Braves to a Win
November 3, 2009  --   The will move on to the semi-finals with a victory over the Fallston Rampage 6-2. Jay Witasick started on the hill and he would pitch a complete game, only allowing 3 hits and he would strike out 18 batters.

Offensively, the Braves were led by Wade Buerhaus who was 2-4 with 3 RBI. Corey Huemmer would triple. Sean Marsden would single and collect 2 RBI. Matt Buerhaus would pick up a RBI on a single.

Neukum Hurls Braves to Victory
October 26, 2009  --   The Braves defeated the Rampage despite a poor outing at the plate. Bobby Neukum would pitch a complete game and pick up the victory. Neukum would strike out 7 along the way.

Offensively, despite putting the ball in play numerous times, the Braves only collectied 3 hits. Wade Buerhaus would double. Brandan Buerhaus and Sean Marsden would each single.

Witasick Hits a Homerun! Hudak Picks up the W
October 20, 2009  --   The Braves rallied late and were able to beat the Sykeville Bulldogs 14-5. Larry Mueller would start on the mound and he would pitch 4 strong innings into the 5th inning. Mueller struck out 3. Andy Hudak came in relief and would only allow 1 hit and he struck out 5 and picked up the win.

Offensively, Jay Witasick would go 2-3 with a homerun and 2 RBI. Corey Huemmer would go 3-4 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI. Bart Dellinger would go 2-3 with 2 RBI. Brandan Buerhaus would go 2-4 with a double, 2 RBI and 2 stolen bases. Andy Hudak would also pick up 2 hits. Matt Buerhaus, Jon Hart, and Chris Miller would each pick up a single.

Witasick One Hits Dodgers; K's 15
October 19, 2009  --   The Braves knocked off the Maryland Dodgers 3-0 in a pitchers duel. Jay Witasick took the hill for the Braves and he would only allow 1 hit and strike out 15 along the way.

Offensively, the Braves only managed 3 hits but they were timely. TJ Fairweather singled and picked up an RBI. Jay Witasick also singled and collected an RBI. Bobby Neukum collected the third single-bagger for the tribe.

Kool-Aid, Sorry; HUDAK Hits Game Winning Homerun!
October 9, 2009  --   The Braves picked up their second win in a row defeating the Diamond Pros 12-10. Matt Buerhaus would pick up the win on the hill as he came in to pitch the 6th and 7th inning. Buerhaus would strike out 3 and not allow any runs as the Braves offense mounted a comeback.

Offensively, Andy Hudak would hit a game winning 3 run homerun in the top of the 7th. Chris Miller would go 2-4 with a double and 3 RBI. Matt Buerhaus would also go 2-4 with a double and 3 RBI. Wade Buerhaus would go 2-3 with a double and a RBI. Brandan Buerhaus would go 2-4 with a RBI. Bart Dellinger would go 2-3 with 3 runs scored. Bobby Neukum would triple. Jeff Bates would double. While Landry Walker and Sean Marsden would each add a single.

Witasick Strikes Out 17, Braves Win
October 5, 2009  --   Jay Witasick pitched the Braves to a 4-0 victory over the Bulldogs. Witasick would only allow 2 hits and he struck out 17 along the way.

Offensively, Witasick would go 2-4 with 2 RBI. Matt Buerhaus would also go 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI. Bobby Neukum would add a double. Bart Dellinger and Brandan Buerhaus would each single.

Witasick Strikes Out 17, Braves Win
September 21, 2009  --   The Braves picked up their third straight win behind a stellar pitching performance by Jay Witasick. Witasick pitched a complete game 1 hitter and he would strike out 17 along the way.

Offensively, Andy Hudak went 2-3 with a double and 2RBI. Landry Walker would collect 2 singles. Others adding hits were Wade Buerhaus(2RBI), Matt Buerhaus(RBI), Bobby Neukum(RBI), Jay Witasick(2RBI) and Chris Miller.

Braves Win Fall Opener
September 14, 2009  --   The Braves started off the fall season with a win over the Maryland Dodgers 14-1. Larry Mueller picked up the win, as he started on the hill and would strike out 6 over 3 innings. Bobby Neukum would come in relief to pitch 2 innings and strike out 2.

Offensively, the Braves had 14 hits. Brandan Buerhaus would go 3-3(RBI, 2R). Landry Walker would go 2-4 with a double(5 RBI, 2R). Wade Buerhaus would go 2-4 with a double (2RBI). Andy Hudak would go 2-4(RBI,R,SB). Bobby Neukum would add a double into the mix. Others adding hits were Bart Dellinger(RBI), Matt Buerhaus(RBI), Chris Miller and Sean Marsden(3RBI).

Braves Win, Take Down the Rampage
July 17, 2009  --   The Braves continued their winning ways winning game one of their doubleheader. They defeated the Fallston Rampage 5-2. Keith Tiedemann started on the hill and after a shaky first inning he put it in cruise control. Tiedemann would strike out 6 and allow no runs after the first inning.

Offensively, the Bravesscored 5 runs in the 5th inning which proved to be enough. Grant Morlock would double and pick up 2 RBI. Matt Wiggers would double and pick up a RBI. Brandan Buerhaus would go 2-3 with a RBI. Kevin Conner would add a double as well. Bob Winter, Bobby Neukem, Chris Brandt, and Bart Dellinger would each add a single.

Mueller Tosses a Gem; Braves Win
July 14, 2009  --   The Braves have won 4 straight games and have improved their record in the Bynum Run Division to 11-0 by defeating the Baytown River Bandits 12-1. Larry Mueller would pick up the win only allowing 2 hits and 1 run. Mueller would fan 2 hitters along the way.

Offensively, the Braves collected 10 hits. Kevin Conner went 2-3 with 4 RBI. Grant Morlock would go 2-4 with a triple and 2 RBI. Matt Wiggers would go 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI. Brandan Buerhaus would double. Bart Dellinger, Jeff Bates, and Bob Winter would each add a single.

Three Round Trippers Leads the Braves Past the Shock
July 10, 2009  --   The Braves picked up their third win in a row defeated the Cecil Shock 7-1. With the victory the Braves secured a season sweep of the Shock. Keith Tiedemann started on the hill and would pitch a complete game picking up the win. Tiedemann would only allow 3 hits and he would strike out 8 along the way.

Offensively, the Braves had three homeruns. First by Grant Morlock which was a 2 run homerun. Second by Kevin Conner which was a solo shot. Then Matt Wiggers would add a solo homerun as well, Wiggers would also add a single. Jon Thurston would hit a double and a triple. Wade Buerhaus would add a single as well.

Brandt Throws a 2 Hitter, as the Braves Beat the Shock
July 9, 2009  --   The Braves squared off with the Cecil Shock and would improve to 3-0 in the season series and 9-0 in the Bynum Run Division, as they defeated the Shock 11-2. Chris Brandt was given the rock for this game. After struggling early Brandt came on strong and would only allow 2 hits as he pitched his way to a complete game victory. Brandt also sturck out 6 along the way.

Offensively, the Braves got jump started by Kevin Conner's two run homerun in the second inning. Jeff Bates would go 2-3 with 2 RBI. Bart Dellinger collected a hit and 3 RBI. Jon Thurston would double in the first inning. Grant Morlock, Brandan Buerhaus, and Bob Winter would each single as well.

Wiggers Leads the Braves Back into the Win Column
July 7, 2009  --   The Braves got back on track with a victory over the White Marsh Warriors 6-2. Matt Wiggers would pitch a complete game picking up the win and he would strike out 8 Warriors along the way.

Offensively, the Braves were led by Matt Wiggers. Wiggers went 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI. Ryan Wolfsheimer would stroke a double. Bart Dellinger, Kevin Conner, and Jeff Bates would each add a single.

Braves Stay Hot at the Plate; Collect 16 Hits
July 2, 2009  --   The Braves defeated the Harford Express 21-1 in 3 innings as they extend their winning streak to 9 games. Matt Wiggers started on the hill and he would pitch a complete game and pick up the win. Wiggers struck out 3 and only allowed 3 hits.

Offensively, the Braves hit everything the Espress threw at them as they collecting 16 hits scoring 21. Kevin Conner led the way going 3-3 with a double, a triple, and 5 RBI. Grant Morlock would go 2-3 with a double, sac fly, and 5 RBI. Matt Wiggers would go 2-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Bart Dellinger would go 3-4 and pick up 2 RBI. Larry Mueller would pick up 2 hits and drive in a run. Jeff Bates would go 2-2 with a double and 3 RBI. Brandan Buerhaus and Wade Buerhaus would each add a single into the mix.

Mueller Leads the Braves Past Baytown
June 29, 2009  --   The Braves improved their record to 13-3, nothing their eighth win in a row as they knocked off the Baytown River Bandits 13-3. Larry Mueller started on the hill and he would not need any help. Mueller would pitch a complete game, picking up the win and striking out 6 along the way.

Offensively, the Braves put up more than 10 hits for the fourth straight game, collecting 13 hits. Chris Brandt would hit a very rare inside the park homerun and drive in 2. Matt Wiggers would go 2-3 with a triple and 3 RBI. Bobby Neukum would go 2-2 with a double and a RBI. Bart Dellinger would go 2-2 with a RBI. Kevin Conner would go 2-2 with 2 RBI. Jon Thurston would pick up a double and 2 RBI. Grant Morlock, Brandan Buerhaus, and Wade Buerhaus would each add a single.

Lucky Number Seven
June 28, 2009  --   The Braves continued to stay on their hot streak, beating division rival Baytown River Bandits 13-8. The win is the Tribes seventh in a row and they remain unbeaten within their division. Chris Brandt took the hill to start the game and he would notch the win going 4 1/3 innings striking out 5. Grant Morlock would pitch 1 2/3 innings allowing no runs. Jon Thurston came in to close out the seventh.

Offensively, the Braves collected 12 hits. Brandan Buerhaus went 2-4 with a homerun and 4 RBI's. Bob Winter would go 3-4 with a double and 3 RBI's. Jon Thurston would go 3-5 with a double and an RBI. Grant Morlock doubled and picked up 3 RBI. Bobby Neukum also doubled. Bart Dellinger and Jeff Bates would each add a single.

Morlock Breaks Out at the Plate; Leads the Braves to Victory
June 25, 2009  --   The Braves defeated the Harford Express 10-5, extending their winning streak to 6 games. Larry Mueller started on the hill and he would pitch 4 innings allowing 2 runs striking out 7 along the way. Matt Wiggers then went 3 innings striking out 4.

Offensively, Grant Morlock went 4-4 with a double and 3 RBI. Bobby Neukum would go 2-4 with a double and an RBI. Matt Wiggers singled and collect 2 RBI's. Others adding hits were Brandan Buerhaus, Bart Dellinger, Kevin Conner, and Chris Brandt.

Tiedemann Dominates, as Braves Win
June 22, 2009  --   The Braves picked up their fifth win in a row in the SSBL by defeating the White Marsh Warriors 10-0. Keith Tiedemann and Grant Morlock combined to pitch a shutout. Tiedemann started on the hill and pitched 6 innings, only allowing 2 hits and striking out 6. Morlock came in to close the game and he would stike out 1.

Offensively, Jon Thurston continued to stay hot and led the way going 4-5 with 2 doubles and 5 RBI's. Brandan Buerhaus would go 2-4 with 2 RBI. Bart Dellinger also picked up 2 hits in 4 at-bats. Others adding a hit were Grant Morlock, Matt Buerhaus, Bobby Neukum, Ryan Wolfsheimer, and Kevin Conner.

Braves Make it 4 in a Row
June 18, 2009  --   The Braves squared off with the Fallston Rampage for the third time this season and the Braves were able to pick up their third win against the Rampage, defeating them 9-4. The win extends the Braves winning streak to 4 games as they head into the Berkshire Showdown in Reading, PA.

On the mound, the Rampage would face 4 Brave pitchers. Matt WIggers would start the game and pitch 2 shutout innings only allowing 2 hits. Grant Morlock would then follow, going 2 innings and striking out 3. Jon Thurston would relieve Morlock and he would also pitch 2 innings allowing no hits. Then Bryan Young would come in to pitch the seventh. Morlock would pick up the win, as he left the ball game with a 4-1 lead.

Offensively, the Braves would collect 9 hits. Jon Thurston and Matt Wiggers continued to stay hot at the plate. Thurston would go 2-3 with a double and 3 RBI. Wiggers would also go 2-3 and he would pick up a RBI. Kevin Conner went 2-3 with a RBI. Bart Dellinger and Grant Morlock would each single in 2 runs and Bob Winter added a single into the mix.

Brandt Shuts Down the Assault
June 15, 2009  --   The Braves extended their winning streak to 3 games as they defeated the Susquehanna Assault 3-0. Chris Brandt would pitch his second quality start in a row as he threw a 2 hit shutout, striking out 4 Assault along the way.

Offensively, the Braves only collected 6 hits but they were timely hits. Matt Buerhaus would hit a 2 run homerun and add a single into the mix. Grant Morlock picked up a double and a triple while driving in a run. While Brandan Buerhaus and Bob Winter would each add a single.

Braves set for Reading Tournament: UPDATED
The Braves will participate in a guaranteed four game, 13 team tournament between June 19th and June 21st in Reading, PA. Brandt Gets the Braves Back on Track
June 3, 2009  --   The Braves squared off with the division rival Cecil Shock tonight and they would pick up the win 14-1, thus remaining unbeaten within the Bynum Run Division. Chris Brandt started on the hill and he would need no relief. Brandt would only allow 2 hits and did not surrender a run until the 5th inning. He would record 3 strikeouts along the way.

Offensively, the Braves bats got going after a lack-luster performance against the Select. Matt Wiggers would go 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI. Brandan Buerhaus would go 2-2 with a RBI. Bryan Young would double and drive in 4 runs. Bart Dellinger would also double and pick up 2 RBI. Grant Morlock would single and collect a RBI. Matt Buerhaus would pick up 3 RBI and a single.

Braves Win Third Game in a Row
May 28, 2009  --   The Braves continued their winning ways as they defeated the Fallston Rampage 5-1 and extend their winning streak to 3 games. Keith Tiedemann showed up to the ballpark to take the mound and as usual the clouds rolled in. Tiedemann did not let that effect him as he would pitch a complete game. Along the way he would strike out 6 and only allow 2 hits.

Offensively, Jon Thurston and Matt Wiggers continued to stay hot at the plate. Each would pick up a single and a double and they would combine to steal 5 bases. Matt Buerhaus would single and pick up 2 RBI. Grant Morlock, Ryan Wolfsheimer, and Kevin Conner would each add a single.

Braves Shutout the Assault Behind Mueller & Wiggers
May 25, 2009  --   The Braves won a nail biter as they defeated the Assault 1-0. Larry Mueller and Matt Wiggers would combine to throw a shutout and they would only allow 3 hits. Larry Mueller picked up the win as he would start on the hill and he would go 4 1/3 innings striking out 1. Matt Wiggers notched the save as he threw 2 2/3 innings and he would strike out 2.

Offensively, the Braves were only able to put together 6 hits but it proved to be enough. Jon Thurston would score the only run of the game in the first innings. He would would finish off the game going 2-2. Matt Wiggers would go 2-3. Grant Morlock and Wade Buerhaus would each single as well.

Teeter Makes His Braves Debut & Picks Up A Win
May 22, 2009  --   The Braves improved their divisional record to 2-0 as they knocked off the Baytown River Bandits 13-2 in 5 innings. Travis Teeter would make his much anticipated debut as a Brave and he looked good. Teeter would only allow 4 hits and would strike out 8 Bandits as he picked up the complete game victory.

Offensively, the Braves bats continued to stay hot, scoring 13 runs on 11 hits. Grant Morlock would get the Braves on the baord early with his first inning solo homerun. Jon Thurston continued to rip the ball going 3-3 with a double and 3 RBI. Brandan Buerhaus would go 2-2 with a double and 2 RBI. Bryan Young, Bill Greenwell, Wade Buerhaus, Kevin Conner, and Bobby Neukum would add a single respectively.

Braves Shutout Divisional Rival
May 17, 2009  --   The Braves defeated the Cecil Shock 8-0 Sunday afternoon. Three Braves pitchers would only surrender 4 hits to the Shock. Larry Mueller took the hill to start and would pitch 3 1/3 innings, striking out 2. Matt Wiggers would be first in relief going 2 2/3 innings, also striking out 2. Byran Young came in to pitch the 7th, also striking out 2.

Offensively, the Braves bats came out swinging and did not slow down. The Tribe would see their first homerun of the year coming off of Matt Buerhaus's bat. Brandan Buerhaus went 3-3 with a double. Matt Wiggers would go 3-4 with an RBI. Jon Thurston picked up a triple. Bobby Neukum, Bob Winter, and Bart Dellinger would each add a single.

Braves Win on Opening Night
May 11, 2009  --   The Braves opened up the 2009 season with a solid win over the Fallston Rampage. The Braves strung together 12 hits throughout the game, scoring 8 runs in the process. Larry Mueller, Chris Brandt, and Bryan Young would all look good on the hill only allowing 1 run.

Mueller started the game, going 4 strong innings allowing 4 hits and 1 run. Mueller would strike out 4 along the way. Brandt was first in relief and he put together 2 stellar innings on the mound. He would not allow a hit and he struck out 4. Young would come in to close the game out and he allowed 1 hit and struck out 3.

Offensively, the Braves started off the season swinging. Wade Buerhaus would double twice and Bart Dellinger would double and drive in 2 runs. Brandan Buerhaus and Jon Thurston would each pick up a double and a single. Matt Wiggers went 2-4 with 2 RBI. Other collecting hits were Matt Buerhaus, Chris Brandt, and Braves newcomer Bob Winter.

Morlock Named to All-CAC First Team
May 8, 2009  --   Braves newcomer Grant Morlock was named to the first team All- Capital Athletic Conference Team with his outstanding performance at Wesley College.

Morlock did a little of everything during his junior season, finishing in the top 10 in the CAC in seven different offensive categories: batting average (ninth, .363), slugging (eighth, .588), on-base percentage (third, .488), runs (fifth, 45), homers (tied for eighth, four), walks (second, 30) and stolen bases (eighth, 14). Wesley's starting third baseman led the team in both walks and on base and tied for the team lead in home runs and extra base hits (18).


Stangroom named MAC Pitcher of the Week
March 3, 2009  --   Mike Stangroom Named MAC East Division Pitcher of the Week

Starts the season with a perfect ERA

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo senior Mike Stangroom (Fallston, MD/Calvert Hall) has been named the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week for his solid game-winning performance in the Bulls' season opener against Iona College on Friday, February 20.

Stangroom started where left off in last season's campaign as an All-MAC Second Team selection. In the game versus Iona, the right-hander picked up his first win of the season as the Bulls defeated the Gaels by the score of 4-2. In 5.0 innings of work, he earned an ERA of 0.00 by allowing no runs off one hit while striking out eight of the 19 batters he faced. Along the way to victory, he held the Gaels to a batting average of .063.

Stangroom and the Bulls (3-1, MAC 0-0) will travel to Richmond, Kentucky on Friday, February 28 to face Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne and Eastern Kentucky in a four-game set. The Bulls will face IPFW on Friday, February 28 with the first pitch set for 10am. On Saturday, February 29, the Bulls will face off against host, Eastern Kentucky at 10am followed by IPFW at 2pm. The Bulls will conclude the trip on Sunday, March 1 against Eastern Kentucky with the first pitch set for 10am.


Braves 2006 Champs (Susky League)
The Susquehanna Braves went on to top the Harford Sox for the 2006 SSBL crown, wrapping up the summer season on August 11th.

The playoffs began with with the Braves knocking off the Harford Express in the Bynum Run play-in round, 16-5. The Harford Baseball Club, behind a 4RBI night from Jason Tabeling, would knock off the Cecil Shock in Winters Run division action, 13-11 to win that play-in matchup.

In second round action, the White Marsh Warriors knocked off the Cecil White Sox, 11-1, while the Harford Sox eliminated Mason-Dixon United, 10-4. Medtek Assault took care of HBC 10-5, and the Braves would upset the Baytown River Bandits, 4-2 to wrap up second round action.

In the semi-final round, the Braves would go on to take two from the Warriors 5-3, 5-3... the second game featuring pitching standout Mike Stangroom hitting a shocking walk-off 3 run homer to secure a spot in the Championship for the tribe. Meanwhile, the Harford Sox would turn a few heads as well, sweeping the Medtek Assault beind a 7-run 7th inning showing in game one, winning, 14-12 in a wild one. Goodman would come on to shut down the Assault 5-1 in game 2 going the distance advancing the Sox to their first Susky League Championship appearance.

In the finals, the Braves took game one, 8-1, behind former Calvert Hall hurler Michael Stangroom, who picked up the complete game win striking out five. The Sox took game 2, 3-2, behind lefty Goodman, who would also go the distance striking out five. On Friday, the Braves came back to take game three with a 14-4 victory behind Josh Furest, who would strike out 5 in the complete game, inning shortened contest. Bobby Neukum would homer for the tribe while Zach Walker nearly hit for the cycle.

Congratulations to all of the teams who participated in the SSBL this summer for a successful season all around!
