Speed and Resistance Training Program

Specific Fitness Program for Baseball Players

"Remember, there are no make-ups on the road to maximum development, no opportunities to get what you didn't get when you were supposed to get it! A later start on this road to development decreases the number of neural pathways developed, reduces the number of acquired skills, and ensures that you will not reach maximum potential in your sport."


Objective: Maximize athletic potential on the diamond through improving
multiple aspects of an athlete’s game.

This is a Baseball specific strength training regimen coupled with dynamic aerobic and agility exercises designed to improve athletic performance through championing proper techniques.
• Increase Bat Speed
• Prevent Injuries
• Eliminate Fatigue
• Improve Arm Strength
• Improve Speed and Agility

Components of the program include:
1. Warm-up
• Importance of proper warm-up to prevent injury

2. Stretching
• Prevent Injury
• Increase Flexibility
• Improve Range of Motion

3. Training Protocol
Resistance Training
• Proper Form Breathing Technique
• Range of Motion Correct Way to Spot
• Rep Speed How to detect Poor Technique/Form
Speed and Agility
• Aerobic Capacity Foot Speed
• Proprioception Agility

4. Cool Down
• Return the heart rate safely back to normal

In addition to years of experience as a high school and collegiate athlete, the instructor’s formal qualifications are:
• BS-Exercise Science SIUE
• Certified Fitness Trainer by the American Council on Exercise
• Current CPR and First Aid Certification
• 3 Years personal training experience

Held at the Legion Batting Facility off Broadway in Alton, IL
