WHAT IS THE JOURNALISM TEAM ?
The Journalism Team will be responsible for creating and developing the Club’s newsletter
which will include reports on fellow Miami Lakes optimist teams---baseball, softball,
basketball, cheerleading, and football. Announcements and articles featuring information on
scholarship opportunities such as The International Essay Contest, Oratorical contest, the
Roland Gomez Award and Junior Golf tournaments will also be featured, as well as the
famous “Stone Crab Dinner Night”. The newsletter will be online on our website. The newsletter will be launched as a quarterly publication with the consideration to roll out into a Monthly Newsletter after its one year anniversary.
WHO CAN ATTEND ?
The Journalism Team will be offered to the first 20 children to sign up who attend the
surrounding middle and high schools located in Miami Lakes, The Country Club of Miami,
Carol City, Hialeah, Palm Springs North area and Unincorporated Miami-Dade County area.
Three classes will be conducted each Saturday for two hours.
· Introduction to Journalism
· Introduction to Reporting and Photography
WHEN? CLASSES BEGIN MARCH 1st. 2008!
The sessions will be held every Saturday a month from 9:30-11:30AM (1 hour writing/1 hour photography)
