Players' Expectations

Players Code of Conduct

1.    Each player should have his own glove and shoes (preferably baseball shoes).  In addition, each player is required to wear the appropriate protective gear necessary to protect the player from injury.

2.    Players will not swear or use degrading and/or unacceptable language.

3.    Players will not use obscene or unacceptable physical gestures.

4.    Players will not taunt opposing teams, Coaches, fans, or umpires with unsportsmanlike behavior.

5.    Players will not question calls made by the umpire.

6.    Players will hustle on and off of the field and will practice good sportsmanship at all times.

7.    Players will treat teammates, Coaches, fans, and the umpires with respect.  Root for the success of your team, not the failure of opposing players.

8.    No siblings, friends, and/or parents (legal guardians) are permitted in the dugout during the game without the permission of the head Coach.  In addition, all players are required to remain in the dugout during games at NNLL.  Medical (injuries) and personal (bathroom) emergencies may require the player to leave the dugout or parents to enter the field of play.

9.    During the regular season, NNLL post season tournaments, and/or the Shrine tournaments, all NNLL sponsored teams are required to wear the baseball jerseys and hats issued by the NNLL

10.  All players are expected to attend team functions (practices, scrimmages, games, NNLL fund raisers, etc.) on a regular basis and are also expected to arrive on time for the team functions.  Failure to attend team functions on a timely and regular basis may result in benching or suspension.  Exceptions to this rule are made for school related functions.  The head Coach is permitted to bench or suspend a player for not consistently attending team functions or for constantly being late provided the disciplinary action is conducted pursuant to the NNLL Bylaws.  Head Coach may also bench a player for not assisting in the fund raising efforts associated with the particular league with such discipline to be mild in nature and also consistent with the procedures outlined in the NNLL Bylaws.

11.  Any NNLL player who demonstrates unacceptable, unsportsmanlike behavior that is in conflict with the NNLL Codes of Conduct will be subject to the disciplinary procedures as outline in Article VII of the NNLL Bylaws.

12.  In the event a player is subject to benching or suspension as a result of Code of Conduct Violations, the disciplined player shall not be eligible for all-star selection and play.  In the event a player receives two forms of disciplinary action in the same season (either benching and/or suspension), the player will also be suspended from the NNNL for the remainder of the season with no refund of entry fees.

13.  Each of the Varsity and Farm players is to play a minimum of two innings and bat at least one time during the regular season games at NNLL.  Minor players shall play a minimum of three innings.  Exceptions to this rule may exist for disciplinary reasons.   Coaches are to remember that all players are to be given the opportunity to play.  See Article II, Section A, #21 for additional details.  Coaches who violate this rule will be subject to review by the NNLL Conduct Committee.   Any player who is benched in Violation of the minimum playing rule shall play the entire next two games.

14.  Players are expected to eat an appropriate meal before arriving at the NNLL ball park for a game.  Eating in the dugout before, and during a game is a distraction and is discouraged.

15.  Any player that violates the NNLL Bylaws and is used disciplinary action by NNLL which includes suspension shall not be eligible for selection to a post season all-star team.

16.  Any player who is suspended by the NNLL field duty supervisor (with majority consent of the other NNLL Board Members present at the NNLL facilities) shall have the right of appeal to the Conduct committee pursuant to Article III, Section G, #15 B of the NNLL Bylaws.
