As a partner event, the champion of the 2014 Missouri Gators Invitational wins a free bid to the 2014 Baseball Youth National Championship on July 24-27, 2014 at the new Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana.

TOURNAMENT LOGISTICS

  1. 4 game minimum. Each team will play 2 pool play games. All teams will then be seeded and move into a double-elimination championship bracket. This is a USSSA sanctioned tournament.
  2. $595 registration fee. All out of town teams MUST book their hotels through the tournament hotel page.
  3. Rain Policy:
    3 games played before rainout will not receive any refund.
    2-games played will receive 50% refund minus $100 administration fee.
    1-game played will receive 75% refund minus $100 administration fee.
  4. Tournament director reserves the right to alter time limit/format of tournament as he sees necessary to complete the tournament. 

 

TOURNAMENT RULES

  1. SEEDING TIE BREAKERS:
    1. Winning Percentage 
    2. Number of Wins
    3. Head to Head
    4. Runs Allowed (Versus All Teams Played Not Just Tied Teams)
    5. Run Differential (Maximum +/- 8 Runs Per Game.)
    6. USSSA Power Ranking
    7. Coin Flip

  2. GAME LENGTH: 7 inning games with 1:45 time limit (No time limit for Semi-Finals and Finals). The official game time starts at the conclusion of ground rules and will be announced by the umpire.  

  3. SINGLE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: There will be no "If" game to determine the Champion.  There is a SINGLE Championship game between the representative from the Championship bracket and the representative from the Elimination bracket.  The winner of this game is the Tournament Champion.

  4. GAME TIME: Due to field availability and weather conditions, all teams MUST be prepared to start 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.

  5. TIES:
    1. Pool play games can end in ties. New innings must be started in an attempt to break ties until the time limit expires.
    2. Tied bracket play games will be determined by normal extra inning play until a winner is decided.

  6. PITCHING RESTRICTIONS: ***change to this rule....we will follow USSSA pitching guidelines.  See rules 7.05.C.1-7.05.C.7.

  7. PRE-GAME WARM-UPS: Portable pitching mounds on the game fields cannot be used for warming pitchers at any time. Teams cannot do FULL infield or outfield pregame warm-up on the game field. For pre-game warm-up, teams should share the field and split the infield and outfield respective to their dugout side. Ground balls should be hit from foul territory from behind 1B and from foul territory behind 3B with players fielding the ground balls out past 2B.

  8. LINE-UP CARDS: Each team MUST prepare a written line-up, listing first and last names and numbers of all players/subs prior to each game. Line-ups must be given to the opposing team and home plate umpire at ground rules.

  9. PITCHING SHEETS:   There will be a pitching sheet for each game.  The Home team is responsible for completing the pitching sheet.  BOTH teams must sign the pitching sheet and return it to the umpire at the completion of each game.  Pitching sheets are final once both teams have signed and they have been turned into the umpire.  UIC has final decision on all pitching disputes.  

  10. SPORTSMANSHIP: All players, coaches, managers, sponsors and spectators are expected to conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner at all times. Remember, rule interpretations may be disputed. Judgment calls, especially balls and strikes may NOT be disputed. All ejections will result in banishment from that game and may also result in banishment of the tournament. This is youth baseball, bad sportsmanship will not be tolerated.

  11. HOME TEAM: In pool play the Home team will be determined by coin toss. The highest seeded team will be the Home team during Bracket Play.  In the Championship Game, the team coming from the Championship bracket is the home team, regardless of seed.

  12. SLIDE RULE: Whenever a tag play is evident, a runner must avoid malicious contact with the intent to hurt. If it is determined by an umpire that the play is ruled malicious with the intent to hurt, the player will be ruled out and ejected from the game in progress.

  3. Mercy Rules: 15 after 3, 12 after 4, 8 after 5.Mercy rules apply to all games, including Championship.

  4. SINGLE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: There will be no "If" game to determine the Champion.  There is a SINGLE Championship game between the representative from the Championship bracket and the representative from the Elimination bracket.  The winner of this game is the Tournament Champion.

  6. TIES:

  7. PITCHING RULES: NO pitching restrictions.  Please keep players' arm health as your top priority and make decisions accordingly.  No metal spikes on portable mounds. Lenient balks will be called.  No warnings before balk enforced.  The MLB balk rule will be enforced.  When a balk is called, it is NOT a dead ball.  Pitchers cannot fake a throw to 3rd base while engaged with the rubber (3B to 1B pickoff not allowed).
