PROCTOR RAILS BASEBALL TRIVIA
- 1972 PHS graduate Terry Egerdahl ranks third in state history with a .636 single-season batting average (1972). It was the state record for 25 years.
- PHS had back-to-back undefeated Lake Superior Conference championships in 1980 and 1981.
- PHS produced three UMD Bulldogs team Rookie of the Year Award winners in the 1980s: Chuck Flynn (1982), Ray Miles (1983), and Mark Slattengren (1989).
- Five UMD Bulldogs team MVP Awards have been issued to PHS graduates: Terry Egerdahl (1974, '75, '76), Jason Malec (1984), and Mark Slattengren (1992).
- PHS holds the #2 and #3 state rankings for team ERA (0.90 in 1981 and 0.97 in 1978).
- 1978 PHS graduate Dale Nikko ranks eighth in state history with 232.0 career innings pitched.
- Future Minnesota Twins All-Stars Kent Hrbek (Bloomington Kennedy HS) and Tim Laudner (Park Center HS) participated in the same 1976 State Tournament as the Proctor Rails.
- Former PHS Head Coach Rich Petersson compiled 131 wins in 14 seasons (1977-90) for a .544 win percentage.
- 2006 PHS graduate Dan Carlson ranks tied for seventh in state history with 10 career triples.
- 1980 PHS graduate Jason Malec pitched in the minor leagues for the Minnesota Twins in 1984 and 1985.
- PHS lost the section championship game in 1978, 1980, 1982 and 1984 -- each to Grand Rapids, which went to state every year between 1977-84.
- Current Grand Rapids HS Head Coach Bill Kinnunen was a PHS assistant coach in 1989.
