PETER RASMUS

Peter Rasmus, age 19, was killed in action March 6, 1945 while serving in Germany with the 83rd Armored Reconnaissance Battalion of the First Army's Third Armored Division. Peter had entered the Army directly from graduating from East Rutherford High School. His Batallion was credited for being the first to fight on German soil(1943) and he had been among the 400 men of his Unit trapped at Bastogne in the Belgium Bulge. He survived to give his life later in the war.

JAMES CRIFASI

James R. "Jim," Crifasi was 72 when he passed on January 26, 2015. His last 50 years were spent in the town of Carlstadt. Formerly of East Rutherford James served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Carlstadt American Legion Post #69. Beginning in 2004, he had been the Executive Director of the Carlstadt Sewage Authority. Jim was a parishioner of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in East Rutherford, a member of the Rutherford Elks Lodge #547, Carlstadt Senior Friendship Club, Carlstadt Republican Club, a former member of the Carlstadt Board of Education serving for 13 years,an Officer and Past President of the Carlstadt Little League as well as a former coach for the aformentioned League along with Babe Ruth. One other note regarding Jim was that aside from being a devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was an avid bowler as well.

ALPHONSE "FUNZI" IANNUZZI SR.

Alphonse Iannuzzi Sr. "Funzi", 93, a lifelong resident of Carlstadt, passed away on November 19, 2016. He was the son of Italian immigrants, Frank and Elsie Iannuzzi. Alphonse served in the U.S. Army during WWII in 106 Infantry Division Battery C, 590th Field Artillery Battalion. Mr. Iannuzzi fought in Battle of the Bulge, was captured and a POW in Germany for five months. Funzi was an advocate for veterans and received numerous medals and recognition for serving in WWII and being a POW. For 30 years, he was a service technician for PSE&G in Clifton and retired at the age of 55. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, the VFW and American Legion, Quartermaster Townsman & Royal Brigade Drum Corp and served as a Councilman. He coached Little League for 53 years in Carlstadt and East Rutherford. Funzi was a lifelong fan of the NY Giants, SF Giants and Notre Dame. He married Ellie (nee Perri) from Carlstadt on October 12, 1957. Loving father of Alphonse, Jr. and his wife Veronica, Maria Lise, Frank Sal, Luke and his wife Linda. Cherished grandfather of Alphonse III, Marissa and her husband John-Michael Rovetto, Jordan and Gianna.
