Congratulations to All on Your New Rink Ownership!
Ownership brings opportunities to make the rink a better place, and the OYHA Board is asking for your assistance with the Spring Appeal. This program focuses on key areas of the Ozaukee Ice Center that are in need of improvement, repair, or general spruce-up.
Volunteers Needed
The first step is to complete our online volunteer survey by clicking the following link to Survey Monkey.
This survey allows you to identify those volunteer opportunities that best fit you and your family’s time, talent, or treasure. Areas to consider include:
- Do you have a high school student who needs to fill community service hours?
- Do you have special skill(s) you can donate?
- Do you have access to materials that can be donated or sold at minimal cost to the rink?
- Do you have the ability to provide gifts in kind, such as cleaning supplies, office supplies, or other items?
Please let the board know what you have to offer by taking a moment to complete the survey.Spring Appeal
Next steps include participation in the Spring Appeal. Below you will find a schedule to help us tackle the immediate improvements. Included are bleacher clean-up and upgrades, some repairs to the ice rink and boards area, painting, cleaning, and finally landscaping and spring planting. There really is something for everyone – including children (older ones for the big jobs, please)!
Also, there are several fundraising opportunities to help offset the cost of the materials. Beginning May 14th, the Papa Murphy’s located at 1965 Wisconsin Ave, Grafton, will donate 10% of the sales that occur between 3 and 7 p.m. on Thursday evenings. This promotion will continue through the end of June. Stop by for some great Take ‘N’ Bake pizza, and watch for more fundraising events coming soon.
With Ownership Comes Responsibility
The Ozaukee Ice Center – in an effort to continue to make this a family-friendly place and also raise the funds necessary to build the second sheet of ice – is relying upon YOU. Your participation will pay off! Think of the work you do on your home. Does it reduce your mortgage? No, but it DOES increase the value of your house. While your volunteer work won’t reduce your hockey fees, it will enable the Ozaukee Ice Center to continue to enrich your family’s life.
In advance, thank you for your commitment to these immediate needs and to the future of Ozaukee Youth Hockey. If you have any questions, please contact Chris Donovan at 262-375-6851 (ozicecenter@yahoo.com).
Kindest Regards,
Ozaukee Youth Hockey Association
