Featured Athlete: Allison Curcio
April 2, 2009 --
As if being a born as a triplet wasn’t unique enough, 11-year-old Allison Curcio is always ready for something new, whether it is lacrosse, softball, horseback riding, and yes, even football. Since she’s been old enough to throw a ball, Allison has been drawn to playing football with some of the older kids in her neighborhood. Over the years, her neighbor, who was involved in a school-sponsored football team, encouraged Allison to sign-up for a summer football camp. She’s been hooked ever since. This past season, she played Tight End on a SYAG team and hopes to one day try her skills as a Running Back. She likes the game, especially tackling, so much that she recruited her friend Taylor Mark to play as well. Allison’s parents, Janine and Anthony, try to take it all in stride as they carpool the triplets in three different directions.

Featured Athlete: Taylor Mark
March 2, 2009 --
At 11 years old, Taylor Mark may appear to be a typical tween navigating the demands of school, and family while juggling the social rigors of middle school. What sets Taylor apart is her long-time commitment to sports. She has worked hard to learn her way around a baseball diamond and is comfortable at the basketball free throw line… now having completed her first year playing SYAG Football, those who have seen her in action can attest that she knows her way around the gridiron as well.
Taylor, an All-Suffolk County Girls Athlete, has played numerous sports in various leagues before she made the decision to try football at the urging of a good friend, Allison Curcio, who was already on the team.
Taylor is no stranger to hardship having experienced the loss of her mother, but with the loving support of her father, Glenn Mark, she has found success on and off the field.
“As a father I must admit that at times it was difficult to watch some of the hits Taylor took as part of the game, but in the end to have Taylor exclaim that this was the best experience that she has ever encountered proved that it was the right choice,” explained Mr. Mark. “I can’t say enough good things about the quality of the coaches, kids, and parents involved in SYAG Football.”
