    D Qualifier at Pastime
March 6, 2005  --   This weekend we played in the Spring Swing Open D Qualifier at Pastime Park. It was our first tourney together. We started off slow on Saturday in the Round Robin portion of the tourney. We snuck by with a 5-2 win over the Riverbats. We were then matched against Big Balls. We started off hot, then held on for a 14-10 victory. To finish the Round Robin off we were matched against Bobby Mackey's. We played our best game of the day and won this one in 5 innings 17-1. We finished the round robin 3-0.

We came back on Sunday to begin the one and out. Our first game was against Amerigas Heat. We clicked on all cylinders and cruised to a 10-0 victory. Our next opponent was Larry Stein Reality out of Middletown. We jumped out early, then went very cold. We ended up losing momentum and then the game 13-12 in 8 innings.

We finished 5th out 28 teams.

    3/19 D Qualifier at Riverstar
March 19, 2005  --   This weekend we played in a rain shortened D Qualifier at Riverstar Park. We started off the tourney with a team called Greenies. We hit early and cruised to a 11-1 short game victory. We were then matched against another NKY team in Our Place Too. They came out hitting early and with the help of some of our miscues they jumed out to a 13-0 lead after the 1st inning. We pulled it together and started to chip into it. The game went the full seven innings, but we failed to overcome their big 1st inning and the six home runs for outs we hit, did not help us. We lost 24-17. Mother Nature then cancelled the tourney as we were getting ready for our next game. We were given a tied for 3rd. This tourney marked the first games of the year for Shawn Donaghy and Doug Buford. The good thing is we were missing five players and still put a good team on the field. We are looking forward to the rest of the year.

    Hitting Leaders:
    Mike Sellet- 7-8
    Tony Pompilio- 6-8
    Marc Covey- 5-8

This weekend we played in the D NIT at Expressway Park. Our first round match up was against Team Sting/Miken. Neither team hit well and our gloves took us to a 5-4 victory. In the second round we were pitted against Stiffler out of Colmubus. Again our bats were on a hiatus but our pitching and defense was there and alive. We hung on for a 5-2 victory. Our next opponent was TPE/TPS. It was a pitcher's duel as the score was knotted at 1-1 going into the top of the 7th. They put 5 runs on the board and we could only muster 1 in the bottom to lose 6-2. In our nightcap game we drew Blue Collar. They came out hitting early and capitalized on some of our mistakes. They held a 14-3 lead after 5 innings. We tried to make a comeback but it was too late as we fell 14-7. Overall we finished 2-2 and tied for 9th out of 34 teams.
