Meet The Founder & CEO of True Blue Basketball Inc.

Richard G. Kelly Sr. is Founder & CEO of True Blue Basketball Inc., as well as a Head coach with TBC Streak Select (True Blue Crew). Coach “K” as he is known, is a member of the Wisconsin Coaches Association, P.A.L. (Police Athletic League) board member as well as a NCAA & AAU Certified coach. Coach “K” has been coaching basketball for over 20 years and has been involved with Summer Tournament Basketball (including AAU basketball for 12+ seasons.) Coach “K” formerly was a member of Midwest Athletics In Action (MAIA) where he was Head Coach of the Varsity & Junior Varsity Travel Teams.

Coach “K”, during his time with the P.A.L. Program, had the privilege of working & mentoring along with a number of very dedicated officers as well as civilian volunteers. His love for the game, mentoring young people, as well as stressing the importance of being a true STUDENT Athlete were all as a result of being under the mentorship of then P.A.L. Director, James Miller. During that time a number of very talented players like Jerry Smith of the Louisville Cardinals, Danielle Ward of the Wisconsin Badgers, and Mike Taylor who made it all the way to the NBA LA Clippers, all benefitted from the dedicated volunteers of the P.A.L. Program. Coach “K” says P.A.L. helped shape the coach he is today.

Coach “K” considers himself to be not only a Coach of basketball but more importantly, a Mentor of life skills that he believes will last a life time. He believes as the name of his club states, that Teamwork Requires a Unified Effort… (TRUE) and the way to achieve it, is by Being respectful, Learning all you can… Using your brain, and having an Expectation of success… (BLUE). Coach “K” says “True Blue” is easy for young people to understand and that it stays with them long after they have played their last game on the hardwood. Coach “K” is a man dedicated to serving others and his life has been that of a life of service. Coach “K” is a Military Veteran having served faithfully in the United States Marine Corps and is currently a member of the City of Milwaukee Police Department Supervisor with 20 plus years of honorable service.

Coach “K” is both excited and truly humbled at the partnership with Wisconsin Streak. He has seldom seen many men as committed to working with young men as Coach “Heebs”. Coach “K” says that Coach “Heebs” is the real deal! He’s got the drive and determination to fulfill his vision. Coach “K” is happy to be part of that vision and expects to have a long and fruitful relationship with the Wisconsin Streak organization.

Summer Tournament Basketball provides an outstanding opportunity for Student Athletes to further develop their individual and team related skill sets. Furthermore, it provides an outstanding opportunity for youth to test their skills against the very best while enjoying the additional exposure that high level competition brings. True Blue Basketball Inc. & Wisconsin Streak both believe that participation with our organizations will help to broaden and enhance each Student Athletes overall academic experience. How? We stress the importance of developing the academic skills of our young people, require as well as instill discipline, and strive to prepare them for what is expected at the next level of athletic competition, and more importantly in life. Coach “K” is a life-long resident of the City of Milwaukee, Married to his High-School sweetheart and the father of two fine young men.
