Dante Johnson WR/ST Graceland University
Strengths Dante has nice size and speed. He has very good hands and is very quick in and out of his breaks. He has good RAC skills and vision and has good quick feet that help him to stay on balance when he cuts. Dante for the level he is at is a very good player.
Needs to Improve He has to increase his upper body strength and learn the correct techniques for beating a bump and run CB. Dante when he is in the slot or on the move has no problem getting off the line but he must learn to be a total WR and not just a one dimensional WR.
Bottom Line Dante talents translate well to the next level but he must get a lot stronger in his upper body for a lot of reasons. He is big enough and fast enough for the next level but so are the DB’s that he will go up against. Right now he beats everybody because he is faster but at the next level he is not faster and he has not learned the techniques needed to get free. He is not bursting in and out of his breaks and when he makes a cut and fools a defender he slows up in anticipation of making the next cut. He will get caught from behind every single time he does that at the next level. Dante make you’re cut and go. Do not look to make another cut just go. Don’t get caught from behind make sure you get tackled from the front. On the tape you sent me you did not get caught from behind but if you look at it again you will see guys quitting once you pass them and you slowing down after you fake them out. You are going to get hurt if you keep doing that. Cut and go! Everytime you cut your next move should look like you were shot out of a cannon. Also right now you are not anywhere near being strong enough for the gunner position on ST. You must get stronger especially your upper body. I hope this helps. Look for a team that needs WR’s and you just might have a chance after the Draft has been completed. Good Luck! Drew Boylhart
DANTE JOHNSON-PROFILE
My name is Dante Johnson and I’m originally from Orlando, FL, but I attend Graceland University (NAIA) in Lamoni, IA. I will be finish with school in December. I play wide receiver and kick return; I am also a gunner on our punt team. I was a four year starter here at Graceland and I have made the all- conference team all four of my years. My Freshman year I was a third team all conference wide receiver, my sophomore year I was second team as a kick retuner and my junior and senior year I was first team all conference as a wide receiver and a kick retuner and I was also third team all American kick returner. At this point the All American teams haven't been picked for this year, but I am a possible pick for both positions. As of right now I’m currently ranked tenth nationally in receiving yards per game. Below I have provided you with my career stats. If you have any advise or suggestion on what I need to do, to help put myself out there I would really appreciate that. Thank you for your time. p.s I have also made the Dan Hansen 14th all-american, plus naia.org all-american honorable mention Ht:6'1 Wt:210 Fastest 40- 4.38 average 40- 4.44 bench 225- 12 vertical 35in
