    THE HUDDLE REPORT

    Anthony Rozier WR Graceland University

    Strengths
Anthony is a very smart receiver and has had some good coaching at his level of play. He uses good techniques to free himself up and at this level of play shows some good RAC ability. He adjust well to the ball in the air and uses good techniques to beat his man for the long pass. Because he has good size and is smart in his play he has potential for the next level.

    Needs to improve
He lets the ball get into his body although it looks like he has decent hands. He waits for the ball to come to him too much. He must get a lot quicker in and out of his breaks and must learn not to slow up and wait for the ball after his breaks. He has decent speed but does not show the needed burst after the catch for the next level. It takes him a bit to get up to his full speed. He runs smart routes but has a lot of bad route running habits that he uses because the QB really doesn’t have that good an arm. These habits will be hard to break in man-to-man coverage but are useful in zone coverage. He shows some ability for kick returns because he understands how to set up the wedge and blockers but again the lack of burst hurts him here.

    Bottom Line
He has potential because of his size to be a possession receiver with some abilities to go long because he is very smart. He must get stronger hands and go and get the ball. The velocity of the throws at the next level is a big difference and right now I don’t think he has the strength in his hands to deal with that velocity day in and day out. I noticed right away how he caught the ball and I thought right away that he played a lot of baseball. I checked the note you sent me and found out I was right. He catches the ball like he is or was an outfielder. He has to snatch and grab the ball. He does it sometimes so I know he can do it but if you are a possession receiver you have to catch the ball in a crowd. He can learn to get a better burst and he can develop it through baseball. Tell him to go to the outfield and have some one hit him fly balls. Tell him to look for the ball off the bat then drop his head and run as fast as he can to the spot on the field were he thinks the ball is going to go. Then when he gets to that spot look up for the ball and catch it before it gets close to him. He should be standing almost still and he should be their way before the ball gets there. I know I was a center fielder and this is how I was taught to go get the ball. He has to work with a jugs machine and tell him to turn his back to the machine at different distances and have someone feed the machine and yell for him to turn. Leave the machine at one spot and have Anthony move deeper or closer. After catching ten or fifteen balls, tell him to keep track how many out of ten he caught so he can get better everyday and make sure the ball does not go directly at him he should be turning and have the ball directed to one side or the other. This will make him grab for the ball. Anthony might have abilities to be asked to a camp after the draft from that he will get a good idea of his abilities against better competition. He has to work hard but I do see talent and he looks to be a real smart kid and that alone with his size can take him a long way. I hope this helps and good luck.
