NFL DRAFT BLITZ INTERVIEW WITH USF OG CHRIS CAROTHERS
Chris Carothers Interview Offensive Guard - South Florida With: Nick Whiting 4/23/06 I am here today with University of South Florida's Chris Carothers. Chris was a mainstay at right guard for the Bulls, starting over 40 games during his collegiate career. He helped lead his team to a 6 - 6 record in their first year in the Big East, culminating with a bid to the Meineke Car Care Bowl. Chris is a good sleeper candidate for this upcoming draft, one that teams should be advised to take a look at.
First off Chris I would just like to thank you for taking time out of your day to answer some questions for us. I will just get right into it.
Nick Whiting: Tell us, what is life like for a football player after he plays his last game at the collegiate level? Chris Carothers: Being a football player and experiencing the last game of my collegiate career was very hard for me. Going into college you think that you have all the time in the world and you don't think that it will come to an end, but it does. Playing that last game made me realize that life is a journey and you will experience many great things in your life. But being on that field with your bonded brothers, playing a game and the last one at that, is one of those experiences that you will carry with you for the rest of your life. Playing the last game for me was like closing one chapter in my book life and the beginning of a new chapter yet to be written.
Nick Whiting: How have you been preparing for the NFL Draft? Chris Carothers: I have been preparing for the NFL draft by being humble and patient. I continue to work out and stay in shape in hopes of that I will have an opportunity to play at the next level. It's hard to know what the future may hold but at the same time it's exciting as well. In less than two weeks I will know where I stand with the NFL and hopefully through all the hard work and preparation it will pay off. I'll continue to fight towards my dream and keep working on the things that will make me a better player.
