SAINTS TAKE 2, IMPROVE TO 4-0 ON THE SEASON
The Manistee Saints swept a GCBL doubleheader from the Sidney Knights on a long, hot Sunday, winning the opener 15-0 and taking the nightcap 18-1.
The Saints pitching staff allowed their first run of the season in the second game snapping a scoreless inning streak of 17 innings but was stingy all day allowing just 9 hits and 1 run in the doubleheader.
Lucas Johnson paced the offense in the first game, banging out 3 hits and driving in 4 runs. Johnson and Xavier Allen each hit home runs in the game.
Logan Lewis was the winning pitcher for the Saints, picking up his second win of the year.
The Saints banged out 19 hits in the nightcap with Pierce Johnson leading the way with a 4-hit performance and Ethan Edmondson and Lucas Richardson each collecting 3 hits apiece.
Dylan Bates was the winning pitcher, his second win of the season.
Next Saturday the Saints will host their annual Youth Baseball Clinic at Reitz Park, followed by their Alumni get together. The public is welcome for the event.
SAINTS ON THE ROAD
The Manistee Saints are on the road this Sunday, traveling to Sidney for a GCBL
doubleheader with the Knights, game time at Sidney Township Park is 1 p.m. The Saints will
return home on Saturday, June 13, for their annual Youth Baseball Clinic and Legends Day.
The Saints opened the season last week with a doubleheader sweep and will look to
build on that momentum against the Knights who lost both games last week.
With several area high school seasons now complete, the Saints have added new
players to the roster: Landyn Kequom, a pitcher/first baseman; Jake Brown, an
outfielder/pitcher; and Nelson Catenese, a catcher.
SAINTS SWEEP OPENING DOUBLEHEADER
The Manistee Saints swept a pair of games from the Burton Beavers in GCBL action at
Reitz Park on Sunday by scores of 10-0 and 1-0.
The Saints scored six runs in the first inning and cruised to the opener win behind Dylan
Bates’ two-hit shutout pitching.
Lucas Weinert and Lucas Richardson each collected 3 hits to pace the offense.
In the second game, the Saints collected just one hit, but parlayed that hit, a stolen base,
and an error into the game’s only run.
Adam Pierce and Logan Lewis combined for a three-hit shutout, making the Saints’ lone
run stand up in the victory.
SAINTS OPEN SEASON SUNDAY AT REITZ PARK
The Manistee Saints will open their 2026 season at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at Reitz
Park with a doubleheader against the Burton Beavers as they begin defense of their GCBL
championship.
The Saints, facing the GCBL’s newest franchise, return a veteran roster led by Player of
the Year Xavier Allen and Pitcher of the Year Dylan Bates.
Player-Coach Lucas Richardson has not announced starting pitchers for Sunday’s
games, but the Saints enter the 2026 season with strong depth on the pitching staff.
The Manistee Saints are members of the GCBL and continue to build on their
championship tradition as they open the 2026 campaign at home.
