PRACTICES
1. Denbigh AAU Association program prides itself in having its teams prepared for tournaments. Players are expected to make the commitment to be at practice.
2. We will generally have tryouts in the late November or early December time frame with practices to start shortly thereafter. We may have workout sessions prior to thr tryouts (October-November) to prepare the players for tryouts.
3. In order to avoid recreational basketball, most of our practices in January through February are Sunday evenings - usually every Sunday. More practices are held prior to warmup tournaments or at the discretion of the haed coaches.
4. As the recreation season ends, practice will be held more frequently, often three to four times a week in the few weeks leading up to tournament time.
5. Priorities with Sport Conflicts:
a. AAU practices or games should have priority over all non-basketball sport activities.
b. Recreational basketball regular season and immediate post season tournament (i.e. City of Newport News Championship) have priority over AAU. If an AAU team is playing a warmup game at the same time ofa recreation game, the player must obtain permission from the recreation coach in order to attend the AAU warmup game (i.e. recreatiob games have priority over AAU warmup games). State AAU games have priority over all other sporting events, including recreational basketball.
c. AAU practices or games have priority over other recreational basketball tournaments, e.g., recreational regional and state tournament.
