It's the final week for college football coaches to make their case in the recruiting war before signing day on Feb. 4.

I don't think USC has to worry much about receiver De'Von Flournoy of Birmingham. Coach Jim Rose said Flournoy was still a USC commit despite taking a trip to UCLA this month.

Receiver Randall Carroll from Cathedral, a USC commit, is up in the air. UCLA hopes to land him.

UCLA will try to get a commitment next weekend from Long Beach Poly defensive end Iuta Tepa, who I think is a terrific tackler and sack man.

USC and UCLA continue to recruit perhaps the No. 1 linebacker in the country, Manti Te'o from Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou, along with Notre Dame. He has removed BYU from consideration.

Just as the 2009 class is making its final decisions, schools are paying attention to the class of 2010, and don't be surprised if there are some quick commitments.
