Blackhawks Mangle The Jaguars en Route to LCFL Championsip Game
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (October 13, 2008) -- History shows that the Blackhawks step up when it counts. After a last game of the season meltdown where the Blackhawks let there undefeated season get away, they bounced back and gave the previously undefeated Orange County Jaguars a one way ticket home for the holidays with a 17-7 victory in the LCFL West North/West Conference Championship Game. The stands were crowded as they watched the Blackhawks (14-1) dominate the Jaguars during this conference title game. The Jaguars lone touchdown came at the 10:56 mark of the fourth quarter when the game was all but decided. The Blackhawks were playing without three starters on offense due to injury but played with the hearts of champions to reach their 7th championship game in eight years of existance. The Blackhawks were led by league MVP candidate, (QB) Damion Ward who threw for his 38th and 39th touchdown on the season. Ward was 10 of 17 for 136 yards and 2 TD's. Wards touchdown tosses were to (WR) Solomon Jones (4 rec. 60 yds. 1 TD) and (TE) Brett Perkins (3 rec. 25 yds 1 TD). Those two touchdown passes along with a 28 yard field goal by (K) Joy Barry were enough to stamp the Blackhawks ticket to Manhattan Beach California where they will meet the South/East Conference champion, San Diego Thunder (11-2). Defensively, the Blackhawks played an awesome game recording 8 sacks and picking off two passes. (DB) Ken Henderson and (LB) William Brooks both had two sacks apiece for the Blackhawks. Kinte Haynes, J.J. Johnson, Amir Gabourel, and Travon Magee each had a sack as well. Haynes also had 12 tackles on the day. The victory was sweet but nothing to write home about as there is still wotk to be done. The San Diego Thunder are a very strong organization that will match up relatively well against the Mighty Blackhawks. So come out and support the Blackhawks this weekend at the 2008 LCFL West Championship game. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. at Waller Stadium located on the campus of Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach. The address is 1401 Artesia Blvd. Manhattan Beach, CA 90266. Admission is $15.00.
