PULLMAN, Wash. – Aaron Cheatum (6-7, 240, Forward, Moreno Valley, Calif./East Los Angeles College) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Washington State University men’s basketball team beginning with the 2014-15 season, head coach Ernie Kent announced Friday.

“We are very fortunate to get Aaron so late in the year,” Kent said. “Aaron is a very good basketball player with an excellent skill set and will fit into how we want to play and our system very well. He has the ability to not only shoot the 3, but also post up and score inside. We are getting not only a very versatile basketball player in Aaron, but also an excellent young man.”

Cheatum spent the last two seasons at East Los Angeles College in California after graduating from Rancho Verde HS in Moreno Valley, Calif. This past season at ELAC, Cheatum averaged 15.2 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks a game as his team finished with a 20-9 overall record and 9-4 conference mark and fell in overtime the 2014 CCCAA SoCal Regional Quarterfinals. Cheatum was named the 2013-14 South Coast Conference Player of the Year.

Cheatum joins incoming freshman Tramaine Isabell (6-1, 170, G, Seattle, Wash./Garfield HS) who signed his NLI with Washington State in the fall.
