Subway North American AAA Classic Schedule Posted
May 28, 2008 Winnipeg schedule has 10 top-end '96 teams in 2 pools for Subway Classic. Aces are in the Black Pool for round-robin games against NAS, Winnipeg Jr. Jets, SaskCan and Vancouver Selects. Red Pool has Minnesota Machine, Wheatland Wild, NAA Snipers, Sask Jr. Blades and Calg Jr. Flames. Looks like very tough competition for our last tournament of the year. LET'S GO ACES!

Aces Tour GM Place in Vancouver
May 16, 2008 Big thanks go out to our coach and GM Place staff who arranged for a team visit to the Vancouver Canucks locker room and press boxes at GM Place on the weekend. The Black Aces were treated to the rare opportunity to sit in the players bench and training center, while surrounded by NHL memorabilia from current and past hockey stars. Pictures are coming soon!

Aces play hard at Vancouver Tournament
May 19, 2008 The 96 Black Aces placed Top Team in the A Division for round-robin play with wins against the BC 96'ers, Cyclone Taylor and the Vancouver Selects. In the cross-over game, they had a very physical game with the Colorado Thunderbirds who went on to win the Gold Medal of the tournament. Tough defensive play and team development underlined another successful tournament in Vancouver.

Alberta Champions Cup Tournament May 2-4/08
Great weekend for the Aces as they earned a Medal by defeating the BC96'ers to claim our spot in the Top 3 teams of the 96 division. This win certainly will build momentum as we head to Burnaby for the Challenge Cup over the May Long weekend.

The Black Aces are looking forward to a return to a full roster, following an early season plagued with injury and illness - look out, here we come!

Kudos to tournament organizers for a job well done with the tiering to enable competitve play. Also, thanks to the teams who travelled to Edmonton. It was great to play so many top-level teams at our home rinks.

Practice schedule for the rest of the season is now posted. Check out the calendar, and we'll meet you at the rink.

30-Team Tournament kicks off today in Edmonton
May 1, 2008 The 96 Black Aces have their first game of the Champions Cup Thursday night at 8:15p vs 96 Sask Can team at the Kinsman Arena. This tiered tourney offers excellent competition, with the Gold Pool including many of the best teams from Western Canada, as well as the Lemieux Academy teams from Phoenix and California. All the boys will need to bring their game face, and we are looking forward to the action! Good Luck ACES!

Aces Start new Season with a Bronze in Carstairs
April 21, 2008 A great weekend down in Carstairs at the Alberta Thrive Cup with strong local competition. The boys are starting to gel as a team, and got stronger as the weekend progressed. The last three games they out-scored their opponents 31 to 4, and brought home the Bronze medal.

Congratulations to NAS and Wolverines South on the Gold and Silver, and the Aces are looking forward to a great competitive Spring season, and the return of Tommy and Haydn to our line-up.

Black Aces hit the Ice for Spring 2008
April 12, 2008 The Aces had the awesome opportunity to practice at the home of the Edmonton Oilers Thursday, at Rexall Place. The boys suited up in the Visitors change room, with the Calgary Flames chalktalk still up on the Board. Practice Saturday was guest-coached by TSN's own Craig Simpson, followed by a team BBQ at the Millers (Thanks to all!). The team is ready to shine at the first tournament coming up this weekend in Carstairs. Go Aces!
