2009 OPENNING NIGHT: MONDAY, MAY 25TH

About the RIABL
The Rhode Island Amateur Baseball League born of the tradition of the Tim O'Neil Amateur League and the glory days of years past. From it's early years to the 60's teams like Harris Auto, Cranston Oil and McGarry's Resturant featured some of the finest players of their day. Herbie and Barry Nicholas, Junior Butler, Jimmy Adams, Bobby Albanese and many more graced the diamonds throughout the state. Cra-Mar, Allies, The Townies and The West Warwick Jets carried the League through the 90's. Then McKeever's IGA and The Slocum Baseball Club have taken THE RIABL to where we are today. THE BEST AMATEUR BASEBALL IN R.I....IRON MEN WITH WOODEN BATS.
Today the RIABL consists of mostly current and former college baseball players. Players are from colleges all over New England, as well as some from different colleges throughout the country (Division I, II, III). Players reside from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. There are currently nine teams in the league, and the top three teams represent the RIABL in the Stan Musial Tournament. The regular season consists of a 26 game schedule for each team and it runs from the end of May until the first week of August. The playoffs are a best of three series format, and it runs until the end of August. The RIABL is proud to be noticed by The Providence Journal, Warwick Times, Warwick Beacon, East Greenwich Pendulum, Kent County Times, South County Independent, and others throughout the state.
ATTENTION PLAYERS....
Players who wish to transfer from one team to another, from one season to the next, must secure the commissioner’s approval for such transfer. The commissioner will normally approve all such requests, provided that all obligations to the former team have been met and a release form has been signed by the commissioner and former team manager.
American Amateur Baseball Congress
