Opening Day Results
May 29, 2008
Well the 1st one is under the belt. We now prepare for the 1st doubleheader for the season. We will be traveling to New Bern on Sunday June 1st. I would like to have everyone meet at the Bojangles in Newport at 12:30. That way we can make sure we all know how to get there (mainly Coach Chris.) Please let me know if this will be an issue.
We will be having pregame practice on Saturday at 9 am at Smith Field. If you plan on starting you need to be there unless you have made prior arrangements with the coaches. I will base my starting lineup on who shows up to practice. If you do not show up or at least let me know you arent going to be there dont plan on starting. Dont want to sound mean but we cant play like we practice if we dont practice before we play. As long as you contact me about this there will be no issues.
I would like to welcome Russell Williams to the River Dawgs team. He will make a great addition to our already stacked team.
River Dawgs Scrimmage

Gentlemen,
We will be scrimmaging the Adult Baseball team again. I would really appreciate if you would ensure to be at practise on time. We had to move it from Sunday due to Mother's Day (Happy Mother's Day to all Moms) We will start at 8 am. Yes I know this is early, however, this will ensure we get enough practice in. We will not start playing until approximately 9 am. We will end at 11:30 give or take a few minutes. I would like to invite all parents out to watch if you are available.
I also need everyone who has a uniform to bring it to practice next Sunday. I will have to do an inventory to find out what all we need for this year. I would like to encourage the parents that want to order shirts that resemble the away undershirts (teal) to contact me soon so I will know how many to order when I order the shirts. You can have a name and number put on them. I am pretty sure it will be around $15. That way all those players out there who want to be supported by Girlfriends, Aunts, Uncles, Brothers, Sisters, or anyone else who may come to the games. Try to sell these shirts and let me know.
River Dawgs Coaching Staff
The River Dawgs are looking for a Score Board Operator/Announcer. If you have anyone in mind who would make the game just a little more fun please get them in touch with Coach Smith. We are looking for a parent, older brother/sister, cousin, friend. Please try to find someone who will enjoy it as much as we would enjoy hearing them.

Change to River Dawgs Practices
River Dawgs and Family,
I want to apologize for the change to the practice schedule. I have to work around the Jr schedule so we can have the field. We will be practicing on Saturdays at 9 am vice Sundays at 2 pm. I hope this will not be an issue for anyone. If it is, please let the coaches know as soon as possible. I understand there is a few school ball players that will not be able to attend, however I ask that you at least let me know that you will not be there. Make sure you check the calendar for all dates of practices.

River DAWGS 2008 Registration
We will be holding Newport Senior Babe Ruth Sign-ups every Saturday in April from 10:00 to 2:00. This will be at Smith Park in Newport. Fee amount will be the same as last year at $50.00. Junior players-playing up on the Senior team will pay $40.00.
Pass the word around and lets get alot of guys out. For more info contact Coach Smith.
2008 River Dawgs Coaching Staff
The 2008 Newport River Dawgs will have a couple of new faces on the bench next year. Head Coach Chad Willis will not be returning because of health problems.
New to the River Dawgs will be Head Coach Chris Smith who will take over the Staff. Chris has many years of experience as a coach and as an umpire. Joining the Coaching Staff will be 3 other men who will bring plenty of experience and knowledge to our team.
In other NEWS, the Dawgs have announced that Mr. Troy Garner will be taking over as the Newport River Dawgs General Manager of Player Operations. Troy will be responsible for Fund Raising and scheduling of Team Events and Games outside of regular season.
The 2008 Season is looking to be very exciting. Anyone wishing to help in any way with our team should feel free to contact anyone associated with the River Dawgs and let them know. We are looking for a Score Board Engineer and Grounds Keepers.
