    A Massive Merger!
The Rhode Island Men’s Senior Baseball League welcomes, to its family, the Rhode Island Amateur Baseball League. Westcott Properties, Lama & Sons, Brother’s Oven Pizza, Old Mountain Turcs, Allies and East Greenwich Seawolves will now operate in the new RIMSBL “Open” Division.

The RI Amateur League will retain its current national affiliation along with its new affiliation with the Men’s Senior Baseball League. This has been in the works and talked about for some time.

“This is a great situation for both of us,” said Dave Saad, RIMSBL President.

“It brings the excitement of a younger division of baseball. It also gives RIMSBL’s older divisions a feeder system to draw from. And RIMSBL players now have the convenience of playing more baseball in a more competitive environment.”

There is also the opportunity to send an MABL team for the first time to the MSBL World Series in Arizona.

“This is a proud moment for RIMSBL,” Saad said. “We have brought together two historical baseball leagues with so much to add and gain from each other.”

There is an ongoing discussion that may yet add another league to the RIMSBL family.

    ATTENTION PLAYERS....
    Players Changing Teams
A player may exercise their right to become a “Free Agent” and choose to play for another team by:
Notifying their current manager, in writing, and copying the league commissioner, by December 31st of the current year they played in. If the letter is sent after December 31st the player has two choices: The player can sit out the year, or they can be placed on the team finishing in last place of the previous year. If the last place team refuses said player, he will be offered to the team finishing above the last place team. The player will be offered to all teams beginning with the last place team and moving to the next place team until a team decides to claim said player.
If a player has given verbal commitment to more then one team, but has not played for any teams, he will be offered to the last place team and moved up the list until a team claims him. A verbal commitment by a player(s) is non-binding. A player will be deemed the property of a particular team if the player has played for a team, or said player has paid, in full, his team fees. If a player has paid team fees to more then one team, said player will be placed on waivers and offered to the last place team and so on until a team claims him.

    About the RIABL
The Rhode Island Amateur Baseball League born of the tradition of the Tim O'Neil Amateur League and the glory days of years past. From it's early years to the 60's teams like Harris Auto, Cranston Oil and McGarry's Resturant featured some of the finest players of their day. Herbie and Barry Nicholas, Junior Butler, Jimmy Adams, Bobby Albanese and many more graced the diamonds throughout the state. Cra-Mar, Allies, The Townies and The West Warwick Jets carried the League through the 90's. Then McKeever's IGA and The Slocum Baseball Club have taken THE RIABL to where we are today. THE BEST AMATEUR BASEBALL IN R.I....IRON MEN WITH WOODEN BATS. Today the RIABL consists of mostly current and former college baseball players. Players are from colleges all over New England, as well as some from different colleges throughout the country (Division I, II, III). Players reside from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. There are currently nine teams in the league, and the top three teams represent the RIABL in the Stan Musial Tournament. The regular season consists of a 26 game schedule for each team and it runs from the end of May until the first week of August. The playoffs are a best of three series format, and it runs until the end of August.
