2017 Summit Football Update

GCYL Coordinators, 

We wanted to inform you that Summit will not have a team this year and the EC has instructed Summit to share the below with the parents of players in the program.  Since Summit has a large geographic coverage, we wanted to make 100% sure that all players have a home that makes sense for their personal family's benefit.  We ask that all of you welcome these players if contact and if you know of family's who attend summit, please share with them the below.  
 
 
All Summit players who want to continue to play football in the GCYL for the 2017 season (and beyond) will be given an exemption to sign up with a program of their choosing on the condition that the member program is located in a reasonable distance from the players home zip code.  The player will remain with as a member of the program until graduation or changes in the home/school prevent them to stay there per the GCYL Rules.  Our #1 priority is to keep kids playing football and we feel this is the best alternative under the circumstance and lack of time we have to secure a new home for your players.

GCYL Coaches Meeting Update

June 20, 2017

The GCYL League will be hosting (2) informational meetings for ALL COACHES. These meetings should be considered MANDATORY to attend one of the two dates.

The date is Wednesday July 19th (both will be 7:00p - 8:00pm).  You need only attend one of the two meetings.  The meetings will be held at U.C. Sports Complex (same room as last year).
 
In addition to GCYL speakers, and USA Football,  this year's special Guest speaker will be UC Football Head Coach Luke Fickell.
 
 Location:Richard E Lindner Athletic Center Room 450,  building with the Triangle Windows.

Parking in Calhoun Garage which is next to the Soccer Field.  Walk right down the Walkway to the Lindner Center.
 
 
 

Football Sign Registrations Update

May 23, 2017

GCYL Football Sign Ups are open or will be open in the next few weeks.  Please review the parish list below for affiliations and programs.  If you are new to the league and need more information, please email us at gcylfootball@gmail.com and we will assist you with getting in contact with the right coordinator. Your child must be an active member of a parish or school to be eligible to play in the GCYL.  

 

GCYL Calendar for 2017

Below is our calender of events planned for 2017.  Dates are subject to change;

  • Sunday, May 28th - League forms with team and field availability due to Todd Turner
  • Friday June 30th - Final program rosters electronically due to EC
  • PSC Coaches Training Session on Safety and Character 1 – July 19th • Saturday July 29th
  • GCYL schedule release pending approval of team participation
  • Thursday July 27th – Tentative first day of practice (Min. of 3 practices in shorts and helmets only)
  • Saturday/Sunday, August 26/27th – Tentative start of regular season
  • Friday September 8th - All rosters finalized (no additions) • Saturday/Sunday, October 21/22nd - Start of playoffs
  • Saturday/Sunday, November 4/5th - GCYL Championships
