    COACH JAMIE WISE IS '08-09 WASHINGTON STATE 4A COACH OF THE YEAR!
    February 20, 2009 Coach Jamie Wise was awarded the 2008-09 Washington State Coach of the year. The award was given between the 1st and 2nd round of the State Tournament. It couldn't be more desrved. Way to go coach!

    February 14, 2009 Chief wrestlers were on fire in Spokane as all but one wrestler placed at the regional tournament in Spokane. Four Chiefs are regional champions as well as the team. 1st through 4th place qualifies for the State Tournament and 5th will be an alternate.

    Chiefs Win District Championship!
    February 7, 2009 Moses Lake dominated the competition and came home with another District Championship. The Chiefs were nearly 100 points ahead of the second place Wenatchee Panthers. The Chiefs place 18 wrestlers with 15 of those advancing to the regional tournament next week in Spokane.

    It was announced at the District Wrestling tournament that our very own, Coach Jamie Wise was voted by his peers as the 2008-2009 Columbia Basin Big Nine Conference Coach of the Year. Congratulations.

    Big 9 Gets Ready for District Tournament!
    February 2, 2009 The Moses Lake High School Wrestling program has finished another stellar season. Friday is the start of the District Wrestling Tournament in Wenatchee and the Chiefs are ready. Last Saturday the Chiefs got several #2 wrestlers through to qualify for post-season grappling. I looked at the numbers for District and this is what I came up with.

    January 29, 2009 Moses Lake wrapped up the Columbia Division, Big 9 Championship with a win over Sunnyside. The win also secured an undefeated dual meet season for the Chiefs.

    January 23, 2009 The Moses Lake Chiefs made the annual trip to East Valley High School in Spokane and came home champions. This annual dual tournament often features several of the top teams in the state. This year was no exception and the Chiefs came home with the championship.

    January 3, 2009 The Moses Lake Chief Wrestlers made thier annual January trip to University High School for the Pacific Northwest Classic Tournament. They were shorthanded, leaving several key wrestlers home with illness and injuries, but still managed 2nd place in this always tough tournament.

    December 30, 2008 Moses Lake travelled south of the border (just the Washington State Border) to take on the competition at the Pendleton Tournament. Although there is some illness and injuries being worked through, the Chiefs came out on top. Following are some results I kiped from The Oregon Wrestling Forum.

    Chiefs Are 4th at Tri-State
    December 20, 2008 Moses Lake braved the weather and travelled to Courd'Alene and came home with a 4th place trophy. Several teams did not make it but about 33 teams still did.

    Tom Pheiffer and Sam Villegas both wrestled into the finals and came away with 2nd place finishes and David Peralez and Nicco Moreno were 3rd and 4th respectively. Tyler Vela and Spencer Fackrell both finished in 6th and Brian Chamberlain managed 8th place.

    December 13, 2008 Moses Lake Traveled up to Spokane for their 1st big tournament of the year. They battled hard and came home with the 2nd place trophy. Hermiston won the tournament and repeated as tournament champions.

    Moses Lake 45, Davis 21 in Home Opener!
    December 11, 2008 Tonights match was an early season peak at probably the two toughest teams in the Big Nine conference. The Chiefs are 2-0 already int the young season as they downed the Davis Pirates 45-21.

    We started the night with a gutsy win by returning state placer Brian Chamberlain in his first action of the year at 189. He beat Davis veteran Tito Gonzalez 7-1.

    One of the most contested matches featured Freshman Hayden wise at 103. He fell behind early but wrestled hard the rest of the match to post a 12-10 victory.
