SoCo Wins Two; Sets Up Massive Decider Next Weekend
The SoCo Stars won two games last weekend over Los Diablos and the Denver Predators, respectively, setting up a massive game next Sunday night vs. the Predators that should decide the conference.
The Stars beat Los Diablos 15-0, their second consecutive home shutout, on Friday night in front of a large, and loud, crowd that was forced to endure a 45 minute delay before kickoff. Jesse Black paced the Stars with 5 goals.
On Saturday night, the Stars beat the Predators, who had entered the game 12-0 all-time in regular season games. The 1st quarter was dominated by the Predators, but a Nate Fleming strike late in the quarter put the Stars ahead at the interval. Three more goals followed in the 2nd, including the first of two monstrous strikes from Ryan Creager, and heroic defending from the entire team put the Stars up 4-0 at the break. The 2nd half was much more offensive minded as the Predators pushed everyone forward in hopes of finding a way back, but Justin Dzuba denied numerous attacks, while the Stars hit the Predators on the break, securing double-digit goals for the second straight night and claiming a 10-4 win. Both teams sit on one loss, with the Predators at 3-1, and the Stars at 5-1. In all likelihood, Sunday night will decide the conference championship. Kick-off is 6pm at the Colorado Sports Center in Monument.
SoCo Shuts Out Fury
The Stars shut out the Ft. Collins Fury in their home opener last night to move to 2-0 on the young season. The Fury, sister team of the Colorado Lightning pro team, were playing their first ever league match, and are still looking for their inaugural goal.
Ryan Creager opened up the scoring in the 3rd with a Pete Randall assist after the teams went into the half at 0-0, and Jordan Doepke added the insurance goal in the 4th off a Brian Contrares feed. Justin Dzuba made 23 saves, including several spectacular stops in route to recording his first career shutout, and the first in Stars franchise history.
Home Opener Saturday Night
The SoCo Stars open up their home campaign this Saturday (June 7) at 8pm vs. the Northern Colorado Cutthroats. The game will be at the Stars' summer home- the Colorado Sports Center in Monument, CO. Tickets are $5, U12 free.
Stars Win in Ft. Collins
The SoCo Stars put together a strong 4th quarter to pull away from Los Diablos and secure an 8-4 win. Tied at 4-4 at the end of 3, the Stars scored 4 in a row in the course of 8 minutes in the 4th quarter. James McMonigle scored a hat-trick to lead the Stars, and Justin Dzuba made 18 saves in net as the Stars outshot Los Diablos 45-22.
The game was marred by a horrific leg injury to Jared Hunt in the 3rd quarter. The game was delayed for over half an hour as Hunt was rushed to the hospital after scoring the tying goal for the Stars moments earlier. He is scheduled for surgery later this week and is out for the season.

Season Begins Monday Night

Tryouts are by invitation only this season.
Rush End Season With Win
The Colorado Rush ended their inaugural season with an 18-10 victory over the Golden Strikers. A capacity crowd of 195 took the game in as the Rush battled for their playoff lives. Unfortunately, the Rush did not gain a place in the championship game due to Albuquerque Asylum's victory in New Mexico. Ultimately, it was the unfortunate midnight madness loss, coupled with the conference's most difficult schedule, that cost Rush their place. The Rush end at 5-3 and sit alone in 3rd place of the Rocky Mountain Conference. They now turn their attention to the NPSL season, which will kick-off in May.
Rush Captain Named All-Star
With the Colorado Rush sitting tied for second place in the Rocky Mountain Conference in its first year of existence, the Rush was honored by the Premier Arena Soccer League when captain Pete Randall was named to the all-star team. Randall was the leading vote-getter in the Rocky Mountain Conference and will join Tony Thomas of the Denver Predators, as well as 17 other players from the nation's 75 teams, in the all-star game. The game will be played February 10 in Stockton, CA at 1pm as the PASL all-stars take on the MISL's California Cougars.
Rush Shut Down Cutthroats
After heartbreak two weeks ago in seeing a game ripped from their hands by a ridiculous decision, and disappointment in Kansas City despite going 2-1, the Colorado Rush bounced back with a dominating victory over Northern Colorado. The game was moved from Rush's home, the Colorado Springs Sports Center, to Soc N Roll at the last moment due to a scheduling error between the two teams and the league; the difficult surface made the game a new adventure for both sides. A James McMonigle goal got the Rush off to a good start, followed by Craig Miller's first of four goals giving the Rush a 4-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Cutthroats hung tough until the 4th quarter when the Rush were finally able to put the Cutthroats away with two early goals, extending the lead to the final score of 14-2.
Rush Fail To Qualify in KC
Colorado Rush fell 2-1 in a must-win game at the Kansas City Regionals after winning their first two games. Rush lost the wild-card tiebreaker by single goal to fail to qualify for the semi-finals with group winners the only guaranteed qualifiers. Rush fell victim to a scheduling quirck which allowed other teams to play weaker opponents from other brackets in their campaign to qualify, but still beat 2 strong teams to finish 2nd in their bracket.
Rush Controversially Fall In Final Seconds
Leading by 2, and up a man, Rush seemed to have the game in hand. However, Craig Miller's attempt on Asylum's empty net bounced off the groung, then hit the crossbar and came out. In the ensuing play, a foul was called on the Rush, and a blue card given with less than 15 seconds to go on Rush's Jordan Doepke. Albuquerque, with their man out of the box and goalie pulled were now up 2 men and took a desperation shot with 10 seconds left that wove itself into the goal. Though the shot was taken well inside the 3 point line, the refs inexplicably awarded the Asylum with a 3 point goal and Rush's last ditch effort fell short, giving the Asylum a controversial victory.
The Rush plan on filing with the league over the decision, but the controversy should not take away from an amazing game which saw the lead change 3 times in the final 5 minutes.
MIDNIGHT MADNESS!!!
Colorado Rush will play their first annual Midnight Madness game Saturday night, January 19 (Sunday morning, January 20) at 12:25am vs. Albuquerque Asylum. Tickets are $5.
Rush Over Asylum
Colorado Rush traveled to Albuquerque last night to play the Albuquerque Asylum, which resulted in an exciting 10-8 win. 3 goals and an assist from leading goal-scorer Craig Miller put Rush on top, with Luke Babson and Chris Hannah adding late goals to open up a 4 point lead. The final furious moments saw the Asylum playing with an extra attacker, but to no avail. Over 350 fans filled Blades Arena to watch the classic encounter between two of the top teams in the Rocky Mountain Conference. The Rush is now 3-1 in conference play, with the Asylum taking their first loss and falling to 2-1.
Rush Loses First Game
The Rush lost to the Colorado Predators in Denver Friday night, their first loss. Coming off a long holiday break, which saw the team only play or train once over the course of 3 weeks (an exhibition game victory over Blizzard Cup all-stars), Rush was caught flat-footed and down 7-2 at the half. Rush attempted a late come-back, with Craig Miller scoring his 4th goal of the season, but Pete Randall's penalty kick was saved with 2 minutes remaining, ensuring the Predator's victory. The Predators beat the Bandidos of New Mexico the next night 40-6.
Season Kicks Off May 31
The summer season will kick off May 31 at 7pm at Los Diablos. The home opener will be the following week for a squad with a new name, which will be announced shortly.

Rush Wins in Golden
Colorado Rush won 9-6 in Denver vs. the Golden Strikers to go to 2-0 on the season. Golden opened the scoring in the second quarter, but Rush responded immediately with a Jon Brown 3-pointer directly following the kick-off ensuing after the Golden goal. Jimmy Wade, James McMonigle and Bennett Hietbrink pushed the Rush lead to 9-2. 2 goals from Golden in the final minute, including one goal while playing a man down following a red-card on the Striker's Robert Garcia with 30 seconds to go, made the final 20 seconds interesting. Paul Needham had a standout performance in net for the Golden Strikers with 27 saves. Justin Dzuba matched his performance with 15 saves in his own stellar performance for the Rush. The Rush will now take the Holidays off before playing their first-ever home game January 5 at the Colorado Sports Center in Monument. Tickets are $8 for adults, free for children under 12 and any Rush player sporting Rush apparel! Email thelionsco@yahoo.com for more ticket/season ticket information.
The Golden Strikers fell to 1-2 on the young season.
Game Postponed
Colorado Springs, CO, December 7, 2007- The Colorado Rush Men's Premier game scheduled for Saturday night against Collin Clark and the Northern Colorado Cutthroats has been postponed due to damaged turf at the Colorado Sports Center. Colorado Sports Center and Colorado Rush staff are actively working to bring new turf into the facility as quickly as possible. The facility should be game-ready by the beginning of the new year, and the Rush now plan to kick-off their home schedule January 5.
The game will be rescheduled in February. All sold tickets will be honored at the rescheduled date, or may be returned to the Colorado Rush for a full refund.
Rush Win in New Mexico
December 2, 2007 - 10:32 AM
Rio Rancho, New Mexico- The Colorado Rush Men's Premier team won in their first ever game last night vs. the New Mexico Bandidos in New Mexico. A timid first half led to a barnstorm in the second with Colorado Rush putting 17 points home in the second half to run away with a 21-6 win. Led by defender Craig Miller's hat-trick, Colorado Rush outshot New Mexico 24-6 but were hindered by poor finishing and spectacular goalkeeping by New Mexico's Fidel Diaz.
Alex Pena added two for the Rush as 8 different players scored. Colorado Rush host their inaugural home game Saturday night at 8:45pm.
