Babe Ruth Mid-Atlantic Regional 8/4 - 8/9
The Cecil County Cobras will be competing in the Maryland Babe Ruth Mid-Atlantic Regional in Saugerties, NY from 8/4 thru 8/9.  Regional winner advances to Washington State to play in the Babe Ruth World Series!


Cobras Claim 2009 Maryland Babe Ruth State Championship
The Cecil County Cobras 15u are 2009 Maryland Babe Ruth 13-15 Division State Champions.  Cecil County Babe Ruth hosted the event with games played at Babe Ruth Field on Bard Cameron Road and Johnies Field on Mechanics Valley Road.  Eight teams from around the state of Maryland participated in the tournment with the Cobras coming out on top with a record of 5 - 0.  The Cobras claimed the American bracket  title going 3-0 with wins over Smithsburg, Prince George's and Mt. Airy.  The team from Frederick American Babe Ruth won the National Division bracket title going 3-0 with wins over West Carroll, Queen Anne's and Frederick National Babe Ruth.
Cecil got to the championship game by knocking off a very strong Queen Anne's team in the semifinal game with a walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh inning.  Frederick defeated Prince George's in their semi-final game to set up the showdown with the Cobras.
In the Championship game, after winning the coin toss for home team, the Cobras got off to a good start by shutting down Frederick in the top of the first and then scored three in the bottom half to jump out front early.  The Cobras never looked back and managed to stay in the lead throughout the game against a very powerful Frederick Team.
The Cobras will now travel to Saugerties, NY for the Mid Atlantic Regional and will face teams from Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey.

About The Cobras…
The Cecil County Cobras are a 15u select travel baseball team. Our mission is simple...Play hard, Display good sportsmanship, and Play together as a TEAM! The Cobras will play a limited league schedule in the spring and early summer of 2009 and our goal will be to participate in 6—8 weekend tournaments throughout the year. The Cobras compiled a season record of 27-8 in 2008 playing as a 14u team. The team competed in seven weekend tournaments traveling to Olney, Harrisburg, Belair, Emmorton, and Bowie. The 14u Cobras earned two tournament titles and are ready for action in 2009!


2008 BPA Bash At The Bay Champions

The Cecil County Cobras dominated the field to claim the title in the 2008 BPA Bash at the Bay in Prince Frederick, Md. The Cobras claimed yet another number 1 seed after bracket play on Saturday in just their 3rd tourney of the year. The Cobras have compiled a record of 8-2 in tourney action thus far this year while also claiming the number 1 seed in Olney over Memorial Day weekend. In their other outing, the Cobras finished in 5th place out of 20 teams in a very strong Triple Crown Sports field.

2008 HCTB SUMMER CLASSIC CHAMPIONS

The Cobras captured their second tournament championship in as many weekends and became the two time defending champs of the Harford County Travel Baseball Summer Classic. The Cobras defeated the Emmorton Eagles in the semifinal game by a score of 9-1. In the final, the Cobras beat a very tough Baltimore Blueclaws team by a score of 11-1. Taylor Korn earned MVP honors for the weekend picking up the win on the mound in the semifinal and coming through with a few big hits on Sunday. Shane Muller got the win in the final game and also contributed big at the plate.


2008 Harford County Travel League Champions
The Cobras claimed the 2008 Harford County Travel Baseball League title by going undefeated during the regular season and sweeping their way through the playoffs. In the playoffs, the Cobras defeated White Marsh, Forest Hill and Hickory.

In other action, the Cobras placed 3rd at both the Babe Ruth State Tournament and the BPA State Tournament over back to back weekends in July. In both events, the Cobras advanced to the semifinal round with only nine players before being eliminated.


Cobras Finish Strong In Walk The Plank Tourney
May 26, 2008 The Cobras finished bracket play with a record of 2-0 in the Walk The Plank Tourney in Olney, Maryland over Memorial Day weekend. All game scores and final standings can be found at www.olneybaseball.com.

Cobras Pool Play Schedule:
Saturday, May 24 @ 11:15am vs. SSBA (NY) (Won 24 - 1)
Saturday, May 25 @ 7:00pm vs. Lacy Lightning(NJ)(Won 13 - 0)

The 13/14u division consisted of 20 teams.
Teams were seeded after pool play on Saturday and the top 10 teams advanced into the championship bracket on Sunday while #11 - #20 played for the silver championship.

The Cobras were awarded the #1 SEED after bracket play on Saturday by going 2-0 and allowing only 1 run in two games.

In the first playoff game, the Cobras defeated the Olney Buccaneers by a score of 11 - 5 to advance to the semifinal game.

The Cobras were defeated in the semifinal game by the Arbutus Knights by a score of 9 - 7. The game remained close throughout the contest and the Cobras had men on 1st and 2nd with one out in the bottom of the last inning before lining into a game ending double play.

Great weekend guys! Not a bad outing for our first tourney of the year!
