Welome to the Ewing Girls Softball Association!

On behalf of the officers and coaches of the Ewing Girls Softball Association, we would like to thank you for your interest in our softball program. For 35 seasons, EGSA has provided Ewing girls with positive life experiences, encouraged good sportsmanship and helped develop the individual and teamwork skills needed to succeed in softball and life. With each passing season, we strive to improve the experience for our athletes, their parents and the community.

Over the past decade, EGSA has conducted a massive undertaking of consolidating our rec and travel programs, upgrading our facilities and creating better opportunities for our players to succeed in the sport.  Our facility was named the USA Softball Complex of the Year in 2017 and each year, we attract hundreds of college coaches from around the country to our showcase and exposure events.  In cooperation with the township administration, we run clinics and camps throughout the year to help develop our player’s skills and understanding of the game. By integrating our rec and travel programs, EGSA can provide our community with programs to fit all levels of player skills and aspirations.  Eight of our 2018- 2019 Elite level travel players play at the college level.

Unlike other area youth programs, EGSA does not conduct fundraisers, run raffle programs or solicit for personal donations in order to operate our recreational league. All of our recreational program revenue is generated via our registration fees, corporate sponsorships and concession stand revenues. We a 501.3(c) non-profit, volunteer-operated organization that needs community support to operate. To help foster involvement with the organization, we do ask each family to volunteer in some manner with the league - see the registration form for options!  The organization will provide training courses for anyone interested in coaching which can lead to certification in enhanced teaching skills for softball.  All volunteer coaches are subject to background checks to insure a safe and secure playing environment for our players.

To further involve the community, players can save $50.00 off on registration fees by bringing in a new team or field sign sponsor to the league – just solicit friends, neighbors and companies to support the league. Make sure that your name is indicated on the sponsorship form and the league will refund you $50.00 per sponsor of the player registration fees paid (up to total paid - does not apply to late and out of town fees) once the sponsorship is processed.

About the league.....

The EGSA provides a spring recreational softball league for girls aged 4 - 17.  Team practices begin in April and games are held from late April through early June with 10 - 12 regular season games scheduled per team.  Most games scheduled include some interleague play (played against teams from other surrounding area programs) and some local travel is required. League playoffs follow the regular season in early June culminating with our awards ceremony and picnic midmonth.

First-time players of any age are welcome, as the league offers a program that allows girls of all abilities a chance for recreation, team play, instruction and fun. League rules stipulate that girls must play in the field at least every other inning and the batting order includes the entire team roster. Girls must supply their own fielder's glove. Mouth guards are recommended for Divisions III and IV.

All players will be contacted by their head coach prior to the first practice.

Special note to parents of 10 year-old girls: (Birth dates: 10/1/2008 to 9/30/2009)

A mandatory hitting and fielding skills assessment is conducted for all girls who are league age 10. The assessment is held prior to the draft and several league coaches and board members evaluate each player.  Upon completion of the skill assessments, the girls are placed in their appropriate level for the draft (either Division 2 or Division 3).  This assessment promotes a safer playing environment for the girls in both divisions and insures that each girl is playing with other girls of equal skills. You will be notified directly as soon as the assessment dates and times are determined.

Special Assessments

At the parent’s request, girls may be assessed to play in either one division higher or one division lower based upon the girl’s playing abilities. Please contact the player agent if you would like to request a special assessment.
