    SET/High Pressure Wins Championship

    South Erie Turners/High Pressure won the 2009 Niagara League postseason championship by defeating Night Flights/ Lombardi Chiropractic 2 games to none. SET/HP won the first game 26-23 in 8 innings. SE/HIP was led by Scott Zaksheske's 2 hr and Lenny Kruszewicz's grand slam. Mike Orr had 5 hits including a HR. Ryan Munson also homered for SET. NF/LC was led by Greg Blair's 5 hits. Jody Dickerson and Eric Weglin each homered.
    SET/HP won the 2nd game 14-0. SET was led by Sean Spinelli and Brian Walkers' homeruns. Glenn Holland picked up both victories on the mound for SET/HP.
    Congratulations to both teams on great seasons!






    Final are Set!
    South Erie Turners/High Pressure & Night Flights/Lombardi advance to finals!
    South Erie/High Pressure defeated Burbules Tree Service 17-13 in semi final action. SET/HIP was led by Steve Guerassimoff's 4 hits. Sean Spinelli and Brian Walker each had 2 triples.
    In the other semi final game, Night Flights/Lombardi Chiropractic held on to win in eight innings by a 16-15 score over defending champions St. Joe's Club. Jeff Benedict led NF/LC with 2 HR's, Jody Dickerson and Greg Collins also homered. Pat Greer and Andy Wheeling each homered for St. Joe's, with Chris Primavera adding 2 triples.
    Best of 3 finals begin with a double header Friday night; 6:00 & 7:30 at 12th & Hess. The "if" game would be scheduled for Friday Sept. 11th if necessary.

    Semi-finals games split!

    In Niagara League playoffs, both semi-final match ups split their double headers, forcing an "if" game in the best of three series. Burbules Tree Service and South Erie Turners.High Pressure split their series, with South Erie winning the first game 21-11, opening up the game with a 10 run 7th inning. Scott Zacksheske led SET with 2 HR's. In game 2, Burbules gained revenged with a 27-1 lopsided win.
    In the St' Joe's Club-Night Flights/Lomabardi Chirpractic series, Night Flights took the first game 15-4. Bob Juchno Jr and Jeff Benedict both homered to lead Night Flights. Randy Brown had a HR for St. Joe's in defeat. St. Joe's bounce back in the second game, winning by an 18-11 count. Les Black, Scott Franos, Paul Iavarone, and Jay Reese all homered for St. Joe's. Dana Suppa and Jeff Benedict homered for Night Flights.
    Both series will be decided this Wednesday Sept. 2nd, with Burbules/SET set to play at 6:15, St. Joe's/Night Flights at 7:45. Both games will be at 13th & Wayne.





    South Erie and Lombardi Advance to Semi-finals!

    South Erie Turners defeated Zukor Club to advance to the semi final round against Burbules Tree Service. Zukor Club had advanced by defeating Seawolves/Nest 610.

    Night Flights/Lombardi Chiropractic advanced by defeating Greengarden Lanes. Greengarden had advanced by defeating Waterford American Legion.

    Semi-final best of 3 series start next Friday, Aug 28th. See the updated bracket in the handouts section for more details.




    Burbules Tree Service Wins Regular Season!

    Congratulations to Burbules Tree Service for winning the regular season. Burbules and St. Joe's Club tied at 10-4, but Burbules wins by tie breaker. Congratulations to Elmer for sealing the championship on his birthday!

    6:00 - Waterford vs. Greengarden Lanes. Winner plays Night Flights/Lombardi @ 7:30.

    Winners move on to play Burbules & St. Joe's in best of 3 series starting Friday, 8/28.

    The Niagara League is the premier Over 35 True Modified Softball league in Pennsylvania. The league plays on the City of Erie fields, and plays mainly on Friday nights.
    The league started in the late 1980's, with Len Hopkins first organizing the league. Bruce Baumann became the league president in the early 1990's. In the late 90's, Bruce went on to start the "Viagara League", now known as the "Codgers", an over 50 softball league, and handed the helm in 1999 over to current Niagara League president Dan Prichard.
    The Niagara League became the ISA's (Independent Softball Organization) first modified league in the nation, debuting in 2002. In 2009, the Niagara League became affiliated with the NSA (National Softball Association).
