SUNY Oswego earned a Bronze bid to NCA Nationals, in Daytona Beach, Florida in April 2010! Way to go team!
Our NCA Buddies, Mark and Emily were outstanding and our buddy team "UMASS" was WICKED AWESOME! Check our photos link for other pictures!
2008-2009 Oswego State Cheerleading Team
Thank you for visiting the Oswego State Cheerleaders Home Page. We're in the process of updating and making changes to our "appearance" so come back and visit often! We'll have a 'scrapbook' of memories!
The Oswego State Cheerleading Association cheers at all Men's home basketball games, selected away basketball games, and at other athletic and school functions at the request of the athletic department or college administration. The Lakers also participate in competitions, fundraisers, an annual community service project, and social activities. The need for this organization on campus reflects the interest of a large portion of the student body, and serves also as a way to increase the school’s representation and knowledge about Oswego organizations.
The cheerleading association's primary benefit to the college is its support of the men's basketball team, in the form of cheering for them both at home games as well as at postseason tournaments. The team fosters a sense of school pride and spirit in all those that attend, and in so doing helps motivate and encourage the basketball team. Additionally, the cheerleading association is a public face for not only the athletic department but also for the college as a whole. The team was asked to be featured on both national and local television as part of the "Today Show" broadcast from Oswego on October 18, 2007. The team also represents the college at community service events, cheerleading competitions, and other events throughout the year.
Camp Champs in August '08!
The Oswego State Cheerleading Squad not only won six "Superior" ribbons throughout the camp for their performance in a number of routines including sideline chant, dance, and home cheer, but also took 1st place in both the Cheer and Chant competition, the last day of camp, in the small coed Division (6 teams).
As the award ceremony wrapped up, there was one final award to be handed out: the Leadership Award. This honor is voted on by the other squads, in your division, who are told to vote on which other squad (beside themselves) they would want to be a part of the most, as well as which squad was their overall favorite. This year the Leadership Award went to the Oswego State cheerleading squad.
The Oswego State Cheerleading squad was honored to be chosen by their peers for this award as this as perceived as the most prestigious and most important award given out each year.
The Oswego State Cheerleading Team just brought home the first place trophy at the 2008 Six Flags New England Spring Spectacular Cheerleading Competition in Springfield, Massachusetts!! Great JOB EVERYONE!
The Lakers swept the Small Coed Division 2 category in the Camp Champs competition at the 2007 UCA College Spirit Camp in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Additionally, the team won the Leadership Award, which is voted upon by other teams in attendance.
