On Saturday, December 7th, the Rage will have a uniform fitting for all players. The fitting will be held at Santo Sports. ALL players must attend the fitting or coaches will be repsonsible for guessing what size jersey and pants the player will need. Also, orders for the 2014 Rage Spirit Wear Collection will be taken at that time. Hopefully, the Spirit Wear will be ready in time for Christmas; we can not promise the delivery date although Santo Sports will try to deliver the Spirit Wear as soon as they can. Each team has a designated time to meet at Santo Sports. Please honor the time as we do not want everyone showing up when they please, as it will lead to confusion on team orders and delay the next team coming in after. Below is a list of the times for each team. If you have any questions or can not make the date and or time, please contact your coach.
12U TEAM (PEREZ): FITTING WILL BE AT NOON
13U TEAM (KOVAL): FITTING WILL BE 1:30 P.M.
15U TEAM (VERTA): FITTING WILL BE AT 3:00 P.M

SKATING PARTY SUCCESS
Last week the 12U Rage Cooperstown Team hosted a Skating Party at the Fleetwood Roller Rink. A special thanks goes out to Art and Helenia Perez in addition to Kathy Koval for all their hard work and preparation. Also a thanks goes out to all the parents on the 12U team that invited many friends, neighbors and relatives to the event. Overall, the party was a huge success and fun was had by everyone.
The Road to Cooperstown begins! We are excited to announce that next season, the Rage 12U Team, managed by Art Perez, will head to Cooperstown to play at Dreams Park. Currently, our 12U Rage players are seeking financial assistance by way of Sponsorships and fundrasing to make this dream a realty. If by chance anyone has an opportunity to assist one of the players/families with purchasing a raffle ticket or offer a business related Sponsorship, the Southside Rage would appreciate it. We have sent three teams to Cooperstown and everyone has come back with memorable experiences that will last a life time! Sponsorship Forms are available by clicking on the "Handouts" Tab in the left hand column. The Southside Rage is a Not-For-Profit Organization. With that said, all Sponsorships are recorded and displayed prominently on our web page. Please dont forget the memorable experiences you may have had in Cooperstown with your sons in the past. Keep the tradition alive!
By now all 2014 Rage teams have met by way of a team meetings or through emails. With that said, all parents are reminded to abide by the payment schedule discussed at the meeting. If for some reason, the registration fee can not be met in time, please contact your team's manager. Although we may not be playing baseball between now and February, down payments will come due before you know it for next years tournaments, uniforms, winter practice facilities etc. Thank you for your understanding!

14U CROWNED CHAMPIONS
This past weekend the 14U Rage won the Championship at the Lockport Lockdown Tournament. The team finished with a 4-1 record. The Rage played 3 games in one day where they advanced to the Championship against the Lockport Cobras. In the Champiosnhip game, the Rage trailed 2-1 going into the 4th inning. However, the team came back with clutch hitting and a great pitching performance by Angel Sandoval, who closed out the game and helped the Rage win the Championship by a score of 5-4. The intensity and excitement during the Championship made the game one the most memorable in Rage history. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS TO 12U RAGE

14U TAKE 2ND PLACE
This past weekend, the 14U Rage Team played in the Oak Lawn Spartan Blast Tournament. The team played 3 games on Sunday which included an exciting Championship game against the Indiana Shockers. The Rage ended the Championship game in regulation, tied 1-1. As the game progressed into extra innings, the Shockers were able to score the winning run in the bottom of the 9th inning to win, 2-1. Both the spectators and players commented on how exciting the game was. Unfortunatley, the Rage finished in 2nd Place. We had one of our biggest turnouts in terms of fans at the Championship Game. The Game was visited by some old Rage faces, who cheered on the team throughout the game! The energy level at the game was at an all-time high. We hope the 14U Rage carry that energy and momentum to Louisville, Kentucky this weekend. Great Job and thanks to all that attended the game!
The 12U Rage Team will be heading to Cooperstown, New York to play in the historic Dreams Park on June 1st. The trip will not only include playing some of the top travel teams in the country, but also a trip to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The trip will a memory that will last forever!
2013 COOPERSTOWN PINS REVEALED
The 2013 Southside Rage Cooperstown Pin was released recently for the 12U upcoming trip to Cooperstown Dreams Park in Cooperstown, New York, the site of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The 12U team will compete against some of the top travel baseball teams from all over the world. The 12U Rage team will be competing with 103 other teams at the tournament and will engage in pin trading throughout the tournament. Over the years, the pin trading has been one of the best experiences the boys will enjoy while in Cooperstown as they will meet and greet players from all over the world. However, the trick of all of it is to collect (1) pin from every team at Dreams Park and to also collect the world famous "Commander Pete" pin which is given to 1 member of each team.
This year for the 1st time, our own 12U manager, Ken Koval, has designed his own version of the "Commander Pete" pin by designing a golden Rage face that will only be distributed to (1) member of each team at Dreams Park. The pin, no less, will be called the "Commander Ken" pin. Obvioulsy, this pin will be a hot ticket at Dreams Park as only 103 "Commander Ken" pins will be distributed. Each player will trade the Chicago Rage pins amongst the teams/players. The pin details the outline of the State of Illinois which is filled with the Chicago Flag that represents our city. The pin also represents the numbers of all our 12U players that are on the 12U team. The boys will be leaving within the next few week for their opportunity to play in one of the best tournaments that will nonetheless, be an expereince that the boys will never forget!!! At this time, we would like to thank all the parents and sponsors who have made this dream a realty for the 12U Rage Team! Without your support, the boys would never have been able to experience this once in a lifetime trip to the National Baseball Hall of Fame!
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT..
First pitch strikes are crucial to a pitcher’s success. With a 0-1 count the hitter must deal with a pitcher’s pitch. The pitcher can throw any pitch in his repertoire in any location he wants. A pitcher must develop at least two or preferably three pitches he can throw for a strike in any situation. The first time through the line-up a pitcher should be able to challenge most hitters with first pitch fastball. The hitter’s timing is normally not at peak performance on the first pitch he sees in the game.
Batting Averages on Specific Counts (5 years of College D1 Statistics)
COUNT - BATTING AVERAGE
Notice that the difference between 0-2 and 1-2 is an increase of almost 40 percentage points in batting average. However, .151 is still not very good. So with this in mind, the 0-2 pitch should be a set-up pitch, not a waste pitch. There is no sense in throwing a pitch 2 feet out of the strike zone just to change the count from 0-2 to 1-2. Make a pitcher’s pitch. Either the batter will swing at it and get himself out, or you have successfully set up your next pitch. It is always more fun to pitch ahead in the count. There is a bigger margin for error on first pitch fastball during the batter’s first at bat of the game. In other words, you usually do not have to be as fine. As the game progresses, command becomes increasingly important. Remember that the wrong pitch in the right location will usually end up in success
