    The Aztecs Football Program

First Class Organization-In the way we conduct ourselves on and off the field, in the classroom, and in our Community.

First Class Banquet-Meal, dress code must wear slacks, shirt with collar, dress shoes and a tie. Hair must be combed. Video projector presentation of highlight of every grade. Guest speakers such as Ralph Teran former USD 259 Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Arthur Dehart OB-Gyn, David Leon Attorney, Jim Kobe KSN Sports Director, Rick Moreno U.S.Army Recruiter and Veteran just to name a few.

Organizational Dress Code-Teams appearance uniformed. Jerseys tucked in.

Knowledgable Coaches-Our Coaches are given at least 2 Clinics a season. We run one system from 2nd thru 8th grades, with the Coaches having the ability to implement whatever they want depending on the teams needs.

Knowledge of the game-Our players learn the basic and true essence of the game. It's not just football, we teach life.

Discipline-In order to achieve any goal, there must be discipline. We require our players to adhere to our policies and perform on and off the field.

Structure-Practices are broken down to the minute.

Familia-Everyone wants to belong to something, why not our Family. This is a very important component in our program. We want the kids to be a part of our Family and not the streets.

Aztecs Family Picnic-A day set aside for our players families, with a meal, drinks, skills competition for our players, powder puff game for the mom's and a Coaches vs 8th Graders flag football game.

Tradition-Serving our players and Community for 11 years. Winning City League titles, Bowl Games, a National Championships, over 25 players playing College football, and many more attending College.

Hardwork-Anything worth having is worth working for.

G.A.P.-A Scholarship based on Grades Attendance and Performance on and off the field. Individuals awarded this scholarship recieve half off players fees from 1st thru 7th Grades. In our program it comes down to who is the overall best student athlete, not who can score a touchdown. Our 2008 8th Grade had a Avg. G.P.A. of 3.5, with our front line having 6 4.0 players.

Myles Hill Award-Used to be the M.V.P. award. It also carries a scholarship of half the fees for the next season. It was named after one of our best players in the history of the Aztecs. It's based on the overall players performance on and off the field. Being responsible, respectful and a leader are all required.

Intro to Speed fundamentals-We do 45 minutes of basic speed training every practice, introducing the younger grades to the mechanics and fundmentals of proper stretching, no static stretchs, and how to run.

Speed Training-Advanced ladder drills, agility, proper balance, and speed training for the older grades.

Preparation for the next level-We prepare our players for life beyond football. Our motto is, not everyone can play in the NFL, but everyone can go to College. We want productive members of society.

Character building classes-It is our belief that in order to have a productive functioning human being, one must be a well rounded individual. So we offer classes for drug and alcohol, stranger danger, being a student athlete, what is a G.P.A., how to get a scholarship, the importance of the freshman year in High School, how to break the cycle and chains that restrain us from becoming better people. These classes are coducted by professionals and guest speakers from the Wichita Police Department, USD 259 Assist. Principal and life Coaches.

Travel-We have been to Tournaments in the following states Mo, Ks, Ok, Tenn, and Florida.

Competing at the National Level-Not only do we compete at the National Level, but we have won becoming the first Organization in Kansas to win in Tulsa's Sooner Classic, and Daytona Beach National Youth Football Championship. We have been invited to play in Texas, Georgia, Alabama, California, Michigan, Colorado just to name a few. We will be taking 4 to 5 teams to Florida on Thanksgiving Weekend 2010.

Experiences-We belief that giving the players a chance to experience some of the things that life has to offer will spark a interest in them to want more and better their lives, through what we refer to as life altering experiences.

Exposure-To National Camps, Clinics, and National Tournaments. Allow them to compete against our country's best athletes. Our program will lay the foundation for their futures.

National Camps-Through FBU they will get ranked on Rivals and Forbes, creating greater opportunities for College.

Local Camps-Through Athletic Edge they will sharpen their skills, fundamentals, learning what it takes to prepare during the off season, understanding how to score well in camps.

Making history-No one in the state of Kansas has been where we have been. No Organization in the Midwest has a program like ours. From our humble beginnings to being one of the best programs in youth football.

Pro Style Offense-We run a College, NFL style offense. We rely on passing the ball not just running. Our players are exposed to a well rounded system. Although it may be a little difficult in the earlier grades because of the skill required to pass, once we reached the middle school level, we are highly competitive. Our Quarterbacks and linemen are taught how to audible (change the play the Coach call or blocking schemes, based on what they see on the field), they become a team that understands the importance of teamwork and performaning at a high level.

Fundamentals-Just like building a house, you must first lay a solid foundation. Fundamentals are the key to any success. Players will resort to what they know when they are tired.

The M.V.P. is now the Myles Hill Award
It is the honor of the Wichita Aztecs to announce that the Most Valuable Player Award has now been changed and named after Myles Hill.

Myles began playing in 2004 while in the 4th Grade. He played QB, TB, WR and DB. Upon completion of the football season, he informed his parents that he had no desire to play football again.

In 2005 he sat out the entire football season, but was interested in pursuing wrestling. The Aztecs Wrestling Club (a private club) which was Owned and ran by Rocky and B.J. Villarreal (cousins) was the perfect fit for him. After competing and doing well, he was eager to take what he had learned to the football field.

With the confidence of handling his business on the mat, Myles brought that attitude to the 2006 6th Grade team. He was able to set the tempo in practice, by pushing himself and not allowing anyone to settle for anything less. The team would run an minimum of 2 miles in practice, he would always finish in the top.

Coach Martinez stated, "He would work so hard and pay attention to details, that's what insured his success. I recall him defending WR's that were well over 6' tall and taking on big RB's head on. He pretty much locked down his side. Out gunned and out sized but never out worked.

Lil T at the Austin Tx FBU Camp
Tony "LIL T" Joyner is one of the rising stars for the Wichita Aztecs. He plays on the 6th Grade team who went 7-2 in 2008.

Coach Manny Martinez stated "His Dad has placed Tony in a positive situation. With his support, guidance and discipline he is destined for success. He has exposed him to top notch Camps, as well as working out everyday. LIL T does 200 push ups everyday, runs laps for conditioning, has put countless hours in speed training and agility drills. Oh and he also runs track. But, the corner stone of his success will be his Mom, Nakai, who takes care of his education and requires him to be a respectful young man. He has great balance in his life. He reminds me alot of Myles Hill, that's not bad at all".

Tony, a Virginia native, hopes his son will some day play for Virginia Tech.

January 16, 2009 Coach Martinez was asked to be part of the National Selection Committee for Football University. He will evaluate football ability, to identify the top 50 athletes from each youth league for Football University, and identify the very best athletes from each league for the Youth All-American Game. Every athlete who attends Football University for three days will be evaluated for All-Star selection by our NFL instructor staff

The inaugural event took place this past January 4th, inside the Alamodome in San Antonio , Texas . The event was called the “Football University Youth All-American Game” – the first national youth all-star game ever created – featuring the nation’s top 7th and 8th grade All-Americans, who came from 35 states and from every national organization (PAL, AYF, Pop Warner, AAU) and several independent leagues. The athletes were unbelievably talented and the game day competition was impressive. The live web cast to the nation drew thousands of viewers. (The average weight of the offensive line for the 8th grade unlimited weight game was 265 pounds).

After spending nine years producing the U.S. Army Bowl (www.usarmyallamericanbowl.com), and working with the nation’s top prep football players like Reggie Bush, Tim Tebow, Vince Young, Joe Thomas and Adrian Peterson, SportsLink national youth all-star game was a natural extension for us to showcase these great athletes.

This year, selection of the All-American teams came from hundreds of youth coaches, more than 2,000 videos, and 7th and 8th grade athletes who trained and excelled at Football University , our elite football camp featuring the NFL’s best instructors, this past year in 18 cities.

The three all-stars games included 150 athletes, one for 7th graders with a 155 pound weight limit, one for 8th graders with a 170 pound weight limit, and one game for 8th graders without a weight limit.

During Bowl Week, the All-Americans were treated to a first class bowl experience that included cleats, gear, jerseys and pants, breakout sessions with Herman Boone and Bill Yoast from Disney’s Remember the Titans, Vince Papale from the movie Invincible, NFL Hall of Famers, current NFL players, U.S. Army All-Americans, and a televised skills contest. Based on the feedback from our All-American athletes and parents, we think it was a defining moment and the beginning of an exciting road for our young athletes.

At a minimum, one athlete will be selected to the all-star games from each FBU region (30). All of the all-star selections will be supported by video which showcase elite football ability.

Football University (FBU) invites and trains the nation’s top youth and high school football players with the NFL’s best instructors, over three very intense days. FBU will travel to 30 cities this year from February to July. The FBU Youth Division will train the top 80 youth football players in each region, ranging from 7th to 8th grade (and exceptional 6th graders). The high level training is designed specifically for football players who have demonstrated their football ability.

Our featured instructors from the NFL all share the passion and the patience to teach. They have tutored top NFL talent such as Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady, Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo, Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning, and this year’s top quarterback draft choice Matt Ryan from Atlanta Falcons.

One unique feature that FBU offers is the use of high definition slow motion video to break down every athlete’s movement at 500 frames a second (check out the demonstration on the web site at www.footballuniversity.org).
