Seniors and Season honored at 2008 Banquet
March 27, 2008 The celebration of a terrific season and honoring the graduating Seniors was the theme of the 2008 Swim Banquet. So many parents worked so hard to ensure this was a Swim year to remember. Coaches rose early to teach technique and nurture the competitive spirits, helping each athlete reach further than they thought possible to exceed their personal goals. Swimmers once again demonstrated that Wissahickon Swimming is one of the outstanding programs in Pennsylvania. Congratulations to all on another record-setting year.

Special recognition was given to the 2008 award winners:
MVP Award: Chris Schneck and Becky Gilpin
Coaches Award: Ian Smith and Ryan Marie Conway
Most Improved Award: Brian Wi and Kristen Wieland
Senior Academic Award: Doug Greer and Juliet Chou



Archeological dig uncovers rare treasure
March 27, 2008 Sometimes rare objects from a time long-forgotten arise from the mists to remind us all of a simpler era. Such was the case on a recent night this spring when one of our members, working in a little-explored area of their own house, uncovered a hidden treasure of unusual photographs. The find was not immediately recognized for its value, and sat for a time while the discoverer determined what to do with it. Finally they decided to share it with the world. And so we share it with you.






Boys Continue to Impress at PIAA State Championships
March 13, 2008
Bucknell University: Lewisburg, PA
   The boys team capped a great season with five impressive swims at the PIAA State Championship.  At prelims, the Medley Relay and Adam Bossert's 100 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke did not make it into the championship rounds. 
 
   The 200 Freestyle Relay swam a 1:27.91 on Wednesday morning, good enough for an evening swim in the consolation final.  In the consolation heet, the boys again exceeded expectation and placed 3rd with a 1:27.46; 11th overall.  The 200yd. freestyle relay team of Andrew Nagelberg, Adam Bossert, Erik Waechter, and Chris Schneck has also made the NISCA All-American Consideration Time and await confirmation.

Boys take 9th at District Championships!

With a strong showing in the day 1 relays, the Wissahickon Boys snatched an unprecedented ninth place finish at the PIAA District 1 Championship at LaSalle University.  Thank you to everyone who came out and showed his/her support. 
 
Both the 200 Medley and 200 Freestyle Relays will advance to the State Championships at Bucknell University, as well as Adam Bossert's two individual events, the 100 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke.
