| Hey JERKS , In talking to Smitty and a couple of other people about the slide rule at the plate . I called the umpire in chief . A player DOES NOT have to slide when coming into home plate . Whether the catcher has the ball or not . I thought the rule was you had to slide if the catcher had the ball , but that is not the case .You as a runner CANNOT have any contact with the catcher with the intention to knock the ball out of his glove . This leaves things a little grey . It is the umpires call on how much contact the runner can make with the catcher .My personal thoughts on this as a superstar catcher give the runner the inside or the outside of the plate . We are not in the bigs here guys we all have to work in the morning and we all know what happens when the catcher gets drilled everyone wants revengeand then things get ugly . So to all the catchers out there the train is coming and you should give a side of the plate if you do not want contact .We all know we never agree with the umpires judgement .THE TRAIN IS COMIN !!!!!

| Hey Boy Toy here is the rule.
"When a defensive player has the ball or is about to receive the ball, the runner must make every attempt to avoid contact with the defensive player covering or be declared out. Errant throws drawing defensive player into the path of the runner is not interference." Most leagues also declare that the catcher or fielder has to allow the runner a place to slide into. In other words you can be in front of the plate but you have to leave space for the runner to slide or run around the side of you to score. Standing in front of the plate with your legs open instead of down on your knee blocking the plate. If you are blocking the whole plate then it is up to the umpires.

| I'm scared.
Actually I have to admit I am whipped this weekend. She is very good about softball but once in a while something comes up that I can't get out of. This is one of those times.

| Ryno, for God's sake man, You live for Coventry Sunday morning softball and you miss the game versus your arch rival??? Take some advice from a guy that has been married for 17 years...bribe her. Just flat out bribe her. Promise something like a Coach bag. It works. Miss your game next weekend. You are going to look Clemens not wanting to face the Sox this weekend. Step up!!!

| Guapo my brother even you know there are certain days where you just can't do anything about it. It's a no-win situation for me this weekend. She actually tried to work with me so I could make the first game but I just can't squeeze it in.

| I can't bitch about my wife. She will not even ask me to do anything on Sunday...she knows that unless it is something life or death, I'm not missing softball. Actually the way I've been playing I'm sure some of the guys on the team would like me to take one or two off.

| For me it's showing up at family events and then I can spend that bribe money on myself at Home Depot. She bought me a $300 bat for Christmas so that shows she is fine with me playing but like I said once in a while it's just a no go.
