| Mertog’s Picks
Hello again, it’s Uncle Mertog with the weekly picks.
So lets take a look at all the exciting games that are happening right here in Coventry, the best damn league for “Once a Week Mutha Fuckers” in the whole state. I’ll never let Ian live that one down.
1. Jr’s/Raymond/VFW/Everyone Else vs. P.N.A. Normally this would be my pick for game of the week and God knows that I have a huge mancrush on the P.N.A. (According to Smitty and Mac) However; there is something very wrong with the P.N.A. Must be the fact that they let the “Old Man on the Hill” (Rob Raymond) slip away from them. Losing the best damn pitcher in Coventry hurts. In addition, Jr’s has a freakin’ all star team over there. The picked up my boy Ernie Wright, and when teamed up with my boy Mac (The Circus Show Catch King), Dutilly, Rob Raymond, Jay Johnstone, Artie “The Gruntin’ Freak” Little Marky Gilbert and a host of guys who can just flat out play, this one looks like a good old fashioned “beat-down” for the “whimpering red machine”! P.N.A. gets the horns this week and Raymond/Jr’s/VFW All Stars take both!
2. Charlie’s Place vs. Club Joques: I still don’t know much about Charlie’s Place other than the fact that they have been struggling due to not having their normal lineup each week. This week they take on a hard hitting Club Joques team. I won’t say much about Club Joques because last time I praised them it was the kiss of death. However this week I think The Joques can take the pair here. The reason I see Joques taking the deuce is simply because they have a good core of guys who are there for them whereas CP is struggling to field a team right now. Safe money is on Joques to take the pair!
3. Precision Barber vs. Baxter’s: Everyone better keep an eye on Precision, these guys can play some ball from what I am hearing. Big Mistake to take them lightly. Don’t do it!
This week they play a very tough and gritty Baxter’s squad. I hope Chip and the boy’s are fired up from this one or they could drop the deuce to these talented new comers. However, all in all, I think Chip and his crew will take one of two in this one simply because they have a lot of experience in this league. Gonna be some good games, but I see it as a split down the middle.
4. A+ Vs. The Wyld Stallions: Well I really thought the Stallions had improved greatly over the last couple of years, but this A+ team has opened some eyes in their very first season and seems to be a “Giant Killer” by upsetting some teams this summer. I don’t think they will have any problems this week and I look for them to run it up in the Stallions for the pair here.
5. Farm Dog vs. Eaton: I’m really loving this game as far as being a tough one to pick. I really liked what I saw from the “Dog’s” when we played them and they will definitely be a team to contend with in the playoffs. One missing ingredient for the “Dogs”…NO IAN SMITH? Eaton has played some tough ball this year and has surprised a lot of teams. This one is going to be a battle and I’m calling this one a split.
6. DelPadre vs. Coventry Fire: Two words for Coventry Fire “EXEMPT PLAYERS” (Get Some) I see this going all in DelPadre’s favor this week as they just “Bitch Slap” our brave firefighting hero’s like you would see in a bad porn flick. DelPadre takes two.
You like that…huh, you like that….daddy’s got more for you…that’s right…..(Sorry, lost it for a second there)
7. Bothelo’s vs. Sunset: I just can’t stop saying enough about my boy Ian and his phenomenal motivational and teaching abilities. Ian has single handedly turned a bunch of once a weeker’s into an army of Spartan warriors.
These guys are on an absolute tear and are looking to repeat for the Crown of Coventry. Can anyone stop this juggernaut? Hey, Sunset is a nice little team, but this is the league Champions we’re talking about here….and they have Ian. No contest, Bothelo’s stomps some balls this week and takes the pair.
8. Crowe Bar vs. Village Pub: Mert’s Game Of the Week! Well Crowe Bar is one bad ass team and Ricky Keenan is an absolute beast. This is a great team we’re playing this week. Seems like there was some “Shenanigans” when putting together the Fall Ball schedule. Pub has been lined up against some pretty tough competition this year. Jr’s, Charlie’s Place, Farm Dog, Crowe Bar and we still have to play Bothelo’s? No sleeping on any of these teams. However, this week I’m putting all my faith in my team once again and calling for the Pub to take the pair here. Crowe is going to come out and hit like they always do, but it won’t be enough and The Pub will repel the attack of the killer birds. Pub takes two.

Great games between the Pub and JR's last weekend hope that everyone has good games again this week and for our sake i hope the pub goes undefeated so that when we beat em in the playoffs we are there only loss haha sorry mert but someone has to do it why not lose to us instead of some other team that u love to kiss there a$$ ( smitty + bothelos) hahha jk
JR's vs PNA well i dont exactly know who is playing with the pna as of now but from what i hear its not the same team from summer league so because of that im gonna say that JR's shows up and lays the smacketh down on there rooooooody poooooooo candy a$$es

Charlies vs Jokes again we havent played charlies and i also know there having a tough time getting players to the feild as for jokes havent seen them at all since the crushing defeat in the playin playoff game im goin to go with a split in this one just cause anything could happen and when i say split i mean split right down the middle
Precision vs Baxter still havent seen either of these teams and the way the season is set up it doesnt look like i will until the playoffs so ill wish both teams good luck thru the rest of the year but in this one im gonna go with baxters to take both just cause of tehre experience sorry precision hit the gym like the guys from baxters and you will get my pick next week
A+ vs Stallions well like mert said the stallions have gotten better and better year in and year out but i think A+ is just a lil to much for the stallions to handle maybe they should get themselves a macpac and then they could handle some A+ and maybe could handle any team in the league .... its worth a shot.....
 the funny thing is it is actually called a macpac i had to throw it in there hahahha
Farm dog vs Eaton eaton has definately improved from day by day but i think the farm dog might just be a lil much for them to handle this week im going with the farm boys to steal eaton's food and have themselves a shindig farm dog style, lots of petting and feeding
Del Padre vs CCFF o boy i feel sorry for the fire fighters this week the boys from del padre are looking to send a message to the league that there for real and i think that they just might just up end them in route to a playoff run
Bothelos vs sunset sorry sunset like all you guys on the team and think your a team thats up and cmoing but when you play against this team they dont tend to make mistakes or do anythin to hurt themselves i think smitty and the boys take it in grand fashion if they were allowed into the contest smitty would find a way to win this too
Crowe vs Pub i dont know what will happen in these games both 2 very good teams i give the slight edge to the pub just because of the guys mert has brought in for fall league but crowe could very easily come in and take one or two games but im gonna go with the pub to take both by the skin on there chinny chin chin
even ricky bringing flowers for mert at his house wont blow the pub down

| With all due respect, I made Ian. Before he met me, he was spending his saturday nights sleeping in the outfield at Club Jogues. Now, look at him. He's a 6 times a week-er, he dates Kate, he is the most inspirational leader in Coventry, he took the Bims gang from first round and gone to World Championship....how is this possible you ask...just by switching his auto insurance to Botelho Insurance. Now that I signed up Matt Walker , be on the look out for a Championship for the boys from Harris Bar next year.
