| I just wanted to send my thanks to all the people that sent their sympathies in the passing of my dad. I read the kind words that people posted and they were very touching.
This was my dads favorite time of year. He loved the baseball/softball season. He wanted to do it all, coach, umpire, spectator. It's what he loved. And his knowledge of the game was outstanding. He coached my brother, sister, and myself until we could play no longer. He then helped me coach my daughter in tball. Then he went to umpiring full time in the league. It was never just a game to him. He took it seriously. He enjoyed being out on the field every night and all day on Saturday and Sunday. When my kids didn't have games, I would often drive to where my dad would be just to see him umpire.
As I coach, I find it hard to step out on that field. When a play is in question, I still pull out my cell phone to call my dad. He always had the answers. Even if I didn't like it...
On March 12, 2010 I lost my dad, my best friend. I am saddened every day. I am so glad to know that my dad made the impact that he did in people's lives. Thank you to everyone.
