Our tournament style playoffs are going to be held at BLAIR FIELDS (in Clairton) August 18th and "if necessary" August 19th.

For new teams, we are usually finished on Saturday. Sunday's date is only for the tournament gets pushed back due to weather or other unforeseen event.

We played the playoffs here a few years ago and for the new teams, the directions are listed if you go to "FIELD DIRECTIONS" option on the menu.

For those that wonder why we are playing at Blair this year, I tried to get Dravosburg like year's past, but the weekend was taken. I called in late April.

I personally would rather have our playoffs at Dravosburg every year, but since I've been running the league, this has been the absolute worst year in getting the "League Entry Fees."

That is the sole reason for me having to wait until late April. It's really disappointing to me, because I held the one and only league meeting I have back on March 17th. I'm at some fault for having it on St. Patrick's Day, which was a complete oversight, however, I notify all teams about a month early so that it gives everyone time to do what's necessary on their end to ensure the money is available the day of the meeting. The only team that gets a pass on this, is PBF, because they called me the week of the meeting wanting to join our league.

I felt the need to post and explain this for those people that would wonder why I didn't pick Dravosburg this year. I usually don't bitch on this message board with posts, but this really shouldn't have had to happen. I personally have a ton of deadlines to meet with obtaining numerous field permits, getting insurance policy to Frank, attending the ASA registration meeting to get the scorebooks/rule books/invoice, paying for the balls, notifing all teams to see who's coming back, scheduling the league meeting, etc.... 99% of this stuff needs done before we play our 1st week. That is why it's is extremely important to me, that I get the league money at the meeting (or before, if you can't attend) so that I'm not pressured to get these things done in a rush.

For those teams that paid at the meeting, thanks! I need all teams to remember this for next season and why it is an important function to running the league smoothly.

I appreciate your understanding and hope the weather is not an issue for us in August. Many updates will come as we get closer to the date.

Thanks,
Mike Lakovic

This really is a shame! Our first year in the league we played at Blair for the tourney. The field close to the road isn't bad but the far field was worse than Crestas....at least on that day. The infield was overgrown with clumps of grass and weeds making it ridiculously dangerous to play on. Hopefully whatever borough is responsible for taking care of that field actually drag it this year!

I did make it a point to tell them that I would like to have the grass cut and infield drug, specifically the back field because of the grass that we had in the infield that day. She told me that teh borough goes back to a "shorter crew" August 1st, so I said I'd call in August to remind them.

Hopefully it's better than before. I will be playing at Blair this Friday as long as it's not raining, so I will be able to look at it's condition then.

The only thing is that I don't have a hitch on the back of my truck. Never did. Never used it for pulling anything.

If there is a drag at the field, I'll do whatever I can, but it's not something I want to do the morning of, and I won't be around that week to do it. (not to mention I had to PAY for the field rental, so putting the fields in "good" condition should be their responsibility) Just sayn. You don't got to Home Depot and rent tools that are still caked with mud from the prior guy using it right? Of course not, so then nobody should rent a field that they don't prepare for the rentee to use. I just hope it doesn't rain Thursday - Saturday that week. That would me the most happiest.

Springmix, thanks for the info. Are you talking about the 1st field, closest to the road or both, because it's the far back field that was a 3 on a scale of 1-10 a few years ago.
