| Mert’s Picks
Game 1 Bot vs. CC
Okay the first game I am looking at this week is between Botelho’s and the Heroes of Central Coventry Fire Department.
At present Botelho’s is sitting on an 11-5 record and is looking to stay alive in the playoff hunt despite some huge and major injuries this year. The Firefighters are still winless to this point this year. This doesn’t seem to be likely to change this week. Impressive as their fire suppression skills may be, it won’t be enough to extinguish the white hot tear that D-Train is on as of late. Train has been automatic, with his clutch hitting in late innings and some incredible defensive catches to back it all up. Look out here comes the D-Train!!!
Mert Picks Botelho’s to Sweep Game 2 Stallions/Crow
Ya’ll know I love me some Stallions but I’m not feeling it this week for you guys.
Crowe sit on a 12-4 record at present and is looking to vie for yet another playoff berth. The Stallions have a win under their belt this season but they won’t get one this week as they lock up with Josh Dionne’s Crow Squad. Speaking of Josh Dionne what is up with the big ass beard you’re rocking these days. You look like Alan Garner from the Hangover.
Mert Takes Crow to win the pair! Game 3 Shamrock/Ultra
These Games intrigue Mert with Shamrock at 3-13 and Ultra at 5-11. I think both these games will be close and I’m going to call this one a split down the middle.
Mert calls it a draw! Game 4 Trust/Mashers The Mashers come into this matchup with a 6-10 record while Trust is coming over a pair of loses last week and sit at 10-8. I personally feel that Trust will be looking to avenge those loses and put themselves into position to snatch up the 8th playoff spot. On The Rocks is on their heels and Trust needs these two to stay in the playoff hunt.
Button Mashers better punch in 911 because they are about to get rear-ended this week. Trust Takes Two!!! Game 5 AJ’s vs. OTR This matchup is very intriguing as well since it pits my old team On The Roch’s against AJ’s, both teams are separated by 1 win. Roch’s coming in at 8-8 and AJ’s coming in a 7-9. Both teams are right on the bubble along with the Pub to make the playoffs, and with Pub on a bye this week the stakes are high. This could mean the entire season for both. Last week OTR helped their own cause out by sweeping the Pub and knocking the PUB off pace, this week it’s a tough one to call. I definitely think AJ’s is a much better team than what they have shown this year and I keep waiting for them to break out and go on a tear…so I have to consider all factors. The main factor that seems to be nagging at me here is what I like to refer to as: “THE GOPHER FACTOR”.
Gopher is a great guy who just has the “Sword of Damocles” hanging over his head and is a victim of what is known as the “Reverse Midas Touch”. If Gopher shows I’m calling it a sweep for OTR! OTR SWEEPS! Game 6 Moulton/Anger
Wow, this one is going to be a war and easily capable of being the game of the week. In fact this week I have to give game of the week to this matchup along with my next matchup. I wish I could be there to watch this one unfold. The Mighty Moulton squad at 15-3 taking on Anger sitting at 10-6. We all know that Anger is a much better team than their record reflects and these will be two incredible games. Moulton has a killer lineup featuring Neil Lesniak, Brian Ranney, Lags, Eddie Mac, Moulton, Chris Knight(AKA Brock Lesnar) and Demonti. He may be bat shit crazy but the man can play some ball.
Anger is stacked as well with Big Tommy Vincent, Charcie, Riley, Espo, Playa, and Lemdawg! This is just going to be a sick day of softball right here people. This is like a friggen all star game. All I can say is good luck to both teams, I can’t call this one at all so I’m taking the chicken shit approach and calling it a split. Mert says split!!!! Game 7 Rockers/GQ And yet another awesome pair of games right here. Coventry is BAD ASS people!!!! This game pits up the league leading Rock Junction at 14-2 against the Masters of the Shears GQ at 14-4. This is a matchup of epic proportions my friends. The battle of two bomb squads.
Matty Fontaine, Bruce Soscia, Domicco, Mckeon and my boy GWAT take on Saillant, Watson, Labrie and Kirby (The Legend) Murphy and his evil apprentice Ryman. Yet another game I wish I could go to. Maybe I will, Botelho’s really doesn’t need a broken down old relic there anyway. Once again Mert is taking the Chicken shit route and calling this one a split as well. Mert says split!!!! Thus far my record for picking them stands at 13-1….only missing the OTR sweeping the pub.
