Does anyone know why Lourdes is in the 5A classification? According to the FHSAA website's schools enrollment numbers Lourdes should be a 3A school. I know that since Lourdes is an all girls school you double their enrollment numbers which would be them at around 1700, which is 3A.Just curious....

Yes, Lourdes should be 3A by enrollment numbers.Years ago, in 2004/2005 season was the last season Lourdes was 4A. At the time there were no other 4A schools in Dade and Lourdes had to travel to Broward for all of their games. Lourdes petitioned the FHSAA as it was a financial hardship to travel up to Broward for all away games. Now there are 4A and 3A schools in Dade, not sure why Lourdes has not been moved back down to the appropriate classification?? It is up to the FHSAA to determine this.
I believe that Lourdes is the only private school currently in 5A as St. Thomas moved down to 4A this year.
