| Holbrook Baseball 10's stay alive and advance in the Section 3 Championships with an epic comeback!!
Our boys were down 6-0 after 3, and 10-4 coming up in top 6 for their last at bats. All they did was score 9 runs to win 13-10!!
Aidan O'Donnell, hit a bases clearing triple off the top of the left field fence just missing a Grand Slam, to get the rally started after a couple of Middletown pitching changes proved ineffective!!
As the inning continued, clutch hitting and patience at the plate got our boys close when Nicky Arena tied the score at 10-10 with a 2 out single to left!!
The game winning hit came on a double down the rightfield line by Nicky Izzo, scoring Nick Mellino, Conor Yurgel and Raymond Lehmann to make the score 13-10!!
Mellino shut down the tough Middletown hitters in the 5th and again in the bottom of the 6th to secure the win for Holbrook!!
The two teams combined for 23 runs and 18 hits, including eight extra base hits. There were eight pitchers used in the game as the two managers searched for any way to finish it off.
A couple of Holbrook miscues and some questionable umpiring calls in the bottom of the second saw Middletown take an early lead, 6-0.
Holbrook pecked away at the lead highlighted by a MONSTER home run by Ray Lehmann, that made the score 6-2. Middletown answered every Holbrook score with more runs in their halves of innings 3 & 4.
Way to fight back boys!!
Next game tonight at 6:30 pm vs Somerset Hills to advance to the championship Round vs Nottingham...
